Aston Martin DBS 770 Ultimate Volante Bows Out as the Final DBS Convertible
The Aston Martin DBS 770 Ultimate GT made its debut earlier this year as the marque’s flagship GT swansong. Following that, Aston Martin has also set to give its convertible twin an equally-deserving farewell, in the form of this Aston Martin DBS 770 Ultimate Volante.
Compared to its fixed-roof counterpart, the DBS 770 Ultimate Volante is slightly more scarce, as the Gaydon-based marque only plans to produce 199 units of this gorgeous-looking convertible, with all of them already being spoken for.
Touted as the most powerful DBS model, the Volante edition employs the same fire-spitting 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12 mill that produces 770 PS or 759 HP – hence its ‘770’ moniker. Said mill is also capable of delivering 900 NM from just 1,800 RPM, meaning that there’s a lot of power on tap of this super-convertible.
On the styling front, the DBS 770 Ultimate Volante rocks the same design as its GT twin, featuring the signature Aston Martin grille and elongated front hood to house the massive V12 engine, now primed with horseshoe-shaped hood vents.
And just like the fixed-roof version, this convertible also rides on a set of 21-inch wheels with unique multi-spoke design derived from other AM models like the Valkyrie hypercar and the special Victor one-off model. These massive wheels are wrapped in Pirelli P Zero performance tyres, with high-performance carbon ceramic brake discs hiding behind it, providing stellar stopping power to this powerful convertible.
For those who’ve missed out on placing an order for this limited edition model, folks at Aston Martin went through the trouble of setting up an online configurator for the DBS 770 Ultimate Volante. Aside from a plethora of exterior colourways and interior upholstery options to choose from, there’s also optional black chrome and carbon fibre exterior packages to further soup-up this already stunning convertible.
On board, drivers will be greeted by novel door sill plates, depicting the marque’s fabled wings emblem, plus the special “770 Ultimate” logo. Elsewhere, the convertible cabin pretty much mirrors its GT twin, primed with tech amenities and driver-centric layout.
Apart from that, the marque’s bespoke division – Q by Aston Martin – also offers a wide array of personalised options for the DBS 770 Ultimate Volante cabin. These include special woven leather seat inserts, multiple upholstery options, body graphic options, carbon fibre tints, and many more.
The production of both the Aston Martin DBS 770 Ultimate GT and Volante have already commenced, with first deliveries scheduled to begin later in Q3 this year. As mentioned earlier, all 199 units of the Volante and 300 units of the GT have been spoken for, in spite of its premium price tags of £314,000 (RM1.671 million) for the GT and £337,000 (RM1.793 million) for the Volante.
