Nissan Arizon & Max-Out EV Concepts Unveiled at Auto Shanghai 2023

The ongoing Auto Shanghai 2023 is brimmed with new car launches, ranging from performance-oriented models to luxury EVs and even affordable ones too. Aside from those, this year’s edition of China’s oldest auto show also features several concept models, with most of them being futuristic EVs.

And two of those EV concepts are hailed from renowned Japanese marque Nissan, where they have unveiled the all-new Nissan Arizon and Max-Out EV concepts at the show. More importantly, these two models, brimmed with Nissan’s latest technology, are set to spearhead the marque’s next-gen EV line-up, especially for the Chinese market.

Starting off with the Arizon, this futuristic-looking EV SUV concept was created by the Nissan China team, which works together with the brand’s global EV expertise. Catered to the growing Chinese EV market, the Arizon features a typical boxy SUV silhouette, brimmed with futuristic design elements like the headlights and taillights stripes.

This concept rides on the CMF EV platform, which grants it with a low centre of gravity, ensuring good stability performance, especially when off-roading.

On board, the Arizon’s pillarless cabin grants a more spacious cabin space for the SUV, while the auto-dimming glass roof provides passengers with a clear and open-air-like feel. Also present is the smart ambient light system, built-in with intuitive modes including leisure, relax, sleep, and surprise.
Designed to be human-centric, the Arizon concept features a new virtual personal assistant, dubbed as Eporo. This AI-powered virtual assistant system can interact with passengers in a human-like manner, providing precise information such as the current weather and traffic conditions, as well as other driving-related information.

The Nissan Arizon concept will serve as the basis for future Nissan EV models, catered specifically for the Chinese market.

Moving on to the next concept model, the Nissan Max-Out posits itself as a low-sitting concept EV, featuring convertible body style. This concept model harnesses a very sporty and sleek silhouette, while riding on a set of unique parabolic hologram wheels.

Powering the Max-Out is Nissan’s proprietary e-4ORCE dual electric motor setup, which coupled with the car’s low centre of gravity, promises it to deliver superb handling and acceleration capabilities. Elsewhere, the EV convertible is primed with an ultra-wide display on board, which somewhat resembles its headlights design.

Though not much was unveiled about its details, the Nissan Max-Out is set to represent the firm’s long-term vision, dubbed as the Nissan Ambition 2030. By the end of this decade, Nissan aims to expand the “possibilities of mobility and society” by providing experiences that “inspire confidence and excitement, and enable closer connections between people and broader society”.
