New 2026 Nissan Navara Breaks Cover As Mitsubishi Triton ‘Twin’
The new D27-gen 2026 Nissan Navara was officially unveiled this week in Australia where it was partly developed in.

Nissan has taken the wraps off its first all-new generation Navara pick-up truck offering in over a decade this week. Bearing a new ‘D27’ chassis code, the new Navara bowed globally in Australia, and it’s essentially a ‘twin’ to the third-gen Mitsubishi Triton.
As detailed prior, the 2026 Nissan Navara shares the same ladder frame and 2.4-litre turbo-diesel powertrain as the Mitsubishi mentioned. Nissan has however kept its promise in making the Navara look and drive differently from said ‘twin'.

With the covers now off, we can now fully see the redesigned front fascia that sports Nissan’s signature V-strut grille design, the unique all-LED lighting signature, not to mention the vastly different bumper styling versus what the Triton has.
Nissan designers reportedly add the ‘front shield’ design was inspired by bull bars to establish a “commanding presence at the front.” The actual grille insert itself also features miniature versions of Nissan’s V-strut motif.

At the rear, the new Navara also sports a very differently styled sport bar for its flatbed. Similarly, the taillights, tailgate and rear bumper designs are all starkly different versus what’s seen in its Triton twin.
Sitting as the range-topper is a Pro-4X guise, which gets its very own Lava Red accents. Below which comes a toned-down ST-X trimline with subtle silver accents instead. Otherwise, the new D27-gen Navara retains the Triton’s basic cabin and doors.
For this D27-gen model, there won't be a single-cab guise on offer - only dual-cab (crew cab).

Whilst here, it’s worth noting that the D27-gen Navara comes in double-cab (crew cab) bodystyle only – there’s no single-cab choice. The automaker cited that over 90% of the outgoing D23-gen Navara model's sales leaned on said double-cab bodystyle as a reason for which.
Mechanically, the D27-gen Navara shares same 2.4-litre 4-cyl turbo-diesel powerplant as the Triton. For Australia and New Zealand, said package puts out 201 HP and 470 Nm. Shared too is a 6-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel-drive (4WD) system.

Shared with the Triton is the 2.4-litre 4-cyl turbo-diesel powerplant and 6-speed automatic box.

Only the ST-X and Pro-4X guises gain a trick 'Super 4WD' suite offering seven terrain and drive modes. Lower-end variants instead get an 'Easy 4WD' suite.

Only the ST-X and Pro-4X guises gain a trick 'Super 4WD' suite offering seven terrain and drive modes. Lower-end variants instead get an 'Easy 4WD' suite.
For the latter, select variants get an ‘Easy 4WD’ suite that automatically adapts between 4WD for when better traction is needed and two-wheel-drive (2WD, rear) for highway cruising. An electronic rear diff lock comes as standard for enhanced off-road driving too.
Higher-end variants like the ST-X and Pro-4X guises noted gain a ‘Super 4WD’ suite instead. This brings full-time high-range mode with an open centre diff. These also benefit with a Torsen limited-slip diff plus seven terrain and drive modes.
Other key pick-up truck details to note include a braked towing capacity up to 3,500 KG across the range.

On board, the basic cabin and dash design mirrors the Triton.

On board, the cabin design mirrors the Triton, though Nissan have tweaked with the colour motifs here. Key features brimmed include a 7-inch TFT digital instrument panel plus a 9-inch central touchscreen offering Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Notably, higher-end guises also get a wireless charging pad added into the mix.
As for safety, core basics are covered with up to 8 airbags lining the cabin, followed by a full swing of ADAS features. The latter includes adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, emergency lane assist, autonomous emergency braking, and more.
Visual and styling differences aside, Nissan have also roped in specialists Premcar to re-tune drive dynamics of the new D27-gen Navara from its Triton 'twin'.

As reported prior, Nissan took the effort to retune the Navara’s drive dynamics versus its Triton twin. Australian-based specialists Premcar were roped in to fine-tune the Navara’s drive both on- and off-road.
However, this partnership’s headlining fruit has to be the more rugged and extreme new Warrior concept shown during launch too.
Pricing details and full specifications for will be revealed within the first quarter (Q1) of next year (2026). Besides Australia and New Zealand, Nissan is eyeing to introduce the 2026 Nissan Navara in ASEAN too, key to which being Thailand.
