Experience Hybrid the Honda Way in Honda Malaysia’s ‘Gen H’ Event
Hybrids have been roaming down our roads for years, but many Malaysians are still sceptical about it. Citing poor reliability and bad depreciation rate, many folks steer away from buying hybrid-powered vehicles, even when the newer ones are relatively better and provide better fuel economy than fully-ICE cars.
In an attempt to break this stereotype, Honda Malaysia is organising a series of ‘Gen H’ events to allow more Malaysians to understand and experience Honda’s Hybrid technology, specifically the e:HEV technology which are currently offered in the Honda line-up in Malaysia.
Taking place across three major cities in Peninsula Malaysia, this event comprises of fun activities for all layers of society. You can participate in activities such as fun fair rides and arcades, skill workshops, as well as food and beverage bazaars. More importantly, you can also participate in a test drive session with any Honda e:HEV hybrid models currently on sale, so that you can truly experience hybrid, the Honda way.

The Honda e:HEV series is the latest hybrid powertrain system offered by Honda, where it comprises of a standard ICE that acts as a generator to power the electric motors. Unlike the old hybrid systems that have garnered the sour reputation of hybrids amongst Malaysians, the e:HEV technology is more advanced and reliable, while providing much better fuel economy.
“Today, the hybrid technology has evolved significantly, with the latest in our advanced hybrid technology, the e:HEV, a two-motor hybrid system providing powerful performance and efficiency at the same time while keeping to the fun-to-drive DNA of Honda,” said Honda Malaysia’s managing director and CEO, Mr. Hironobu Yoshimura.

Honda Malaysia’s e:HEV offering started off with the current-gen Honda City, where it was being offered with the 1.5-litre e:HEV powertrain for the range-topping RS variant. The same variant was also offered to its hatchback twin and the Honda HR-V. Since then, Honda Malaysia has sold over 2,800 units of the City e:HEV RS, over 1,600 units of the City Hatchback e:HEV RS, as well as more than 2,600 units of the HR-V e:HEV RS.
The latest e:HEV model to debut is the Honda Civic e:HEV RS, which also marks the first Honda Malaysia model to come with a peppier 2.0-litre e:HEV powertrain. To date, up to 600 units of the Civic e:HEVs were sold by the firm.
Honda e:HEVs being offered as a range-topping variant means you'll get sporty additions around the car
The Honda e:HEV models play an important role in helping the marque to achieve carbon neutrality, before going full-blown with EVs. With all Honda Malaysia’s e:HEV models being offered as a range-topping variant, the firm aims to break the hybrid stereotypes and prove that hybrids can be a fun-driving car with unique appeal.
The Honda ‘Gen H Event’ will kick-start in Johor Bahru, Johor, taking place at the Linear Park, Taman Desa Tebrau from June 3 to 4, 2023, starting from 10 AM to 10 PM. Next destination will be in Penang, taking place at the Juru Auto City from June 10 to 11, 2023, from 11 AM to 11 PM.
