New seventh-gen (G70) BMW 7 Series officially lands in Malaysia!

BMW Group Malaysia saw its local line up refreshed today after announcing the availability of the new seventh generation 7 Series flagship luxury saloon today.

Like its immediate predecessor the G12-gen model, this follow up is also locally assembled (CKD), and features a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain. The range consists of two trimlines starting with the base 750e xDrive Pure Excellence, followed by an up-specced 750e xDrive M Sport.

Mechanically, both share the same package that consists of a turbocharged 3.0-litre in-line 6-cyl petrol mill, as well as an electric motor integrated into the 8-speed automatic transmission, plus an 18.7 kWh lithium-ion battery. The xDrive naming also indicates the presence of  all-wheel-drive (AWD) in the mix.

L-R: Two guises were introduced, those being the 750e xDrive Pure Excellence and the 750e xDrive M Sport.

Altogether, the total system output is rated at 483 HP and 700 NM, which allow both to models easily despatch 0-100 KM/H sprints in just 4.9 seconds whilst enroute towards an electronically-capped 250 KM/H V-max.

Besides that, both models also boasts up to 87 KM of pure electric range, albeit with a lower limited top speed of just 140 KM/H. The batteries mentioned accepts AC Type 2 inputs with an improved higher rate of 7.4 kW, thus granting a full charge in just under 3 hours.

Luxurious and high-tech amenities lead the bill in both trimlines (Note: 750e xDrive M Sport cabin pictured above).

Standing as BMW’s flagship saloon, the kit list in both are predictably extensive and luxurious. Key highlights include the new BMW Live Cockpit Professional displays featuring BMW’s latest curved display module, which combines both a 12.3-inch digital instrumentation and 14.9-inch infotainment touchscreen.

Other key features shared include the brand’s new illuminated front grille frame, back-lit BMW interaction bar, a top-shelf Bowers & Wilkins hi-fi audio system, automatic doors, panoramic glass roof, quad-zone automatic climate control, head-up display (HUD), Parking Assistant Plus, and crystal glass trims.

Sportier and up-specced 750e xDrive M Sport is easily indentified by sportier bumpers, 20-inch wheels, and dual-tone exterior colourway resulting from the adoption of the BMW M Shadowline trims.

Opt for the higher-specced 750e xDrive M Sport trimline and the list is bolstered with additions like the 31.3-inch BMW Theatre Screen rear seat display suite, and the Executive Lounge Seat. This variant also gets the M Shadowline package with plenty of M sport touches inside and out.

In terms of aesthetics, it’s easy to set the Pure Excellence and M Sport trimines apart thanks to the distinctively different front and rear bumpers, wheels (19-inch vs 20-inch), and colourway (single-tone vs dual-tone).

As for colour choices, the exterior sees both trimlines share 3 common hues on top of 1 exclusive hue for each (5 total). On board, both trimlines are decked out with Merino leather as standard, which can be ordered in either Black or Tartufo colour choices.

Note the 750e xDrive Pure Excellence's more elegant bumpers, 19-inch wheels, and single-tone body colour. Also, just 48 units of this variant is up for grabs, according to BMW Group Malaysia

Ready for the high-roller lifestyle with either Bimmers? Take note that things start from RM649,800 for the new 750e xDrive Pure Excellence. Also, according to BMW Group Malaysia, this variant is limited to just 48 units, so those keen on it best hurry to place their bookings.

As for the sportier and feature-laden 750e xDrive M Sport trimline, it commands a higher RM700,000 (estimated) figure instead, but this doesn’t see a limited allocation as the Pure Excellence. Included in both prices is a 5-year, unlimited mileage warranty plus free service coverage.

Accompanying each purchase too is the inclusion of roadside assistance, BMW Service Online and BMW Group Loyalty+ Mobile App – BMW Privileges Card.
