Limited-Edition Volkswagen Golf R 333 Teased Ahead of Global Debut
Volkswagen has released a short teaser video, unveiling the marque’s latest limited-edition model, the Golf R 333. This black-and-yellow-draped special model will come standard with a slew of performance features and more aggressive styling that sets it apart from the standard R model.

Starting with its name, the ‘333’ moniker is likely to suggest the car’s power output in PS form, which makes it on par with previous special R model, the Golf R 20 Years Edition. If our assumption is correct, then the Golf R 333 will sport the same 2.0-litre 4-cyl turbocharged mill that delivers 328 HP (333 PS) – making it the most potent Golf model ever made, so far.
Should VW retain both the same engine and powertrain setup as the previous Golf R special model, the R 333 is poised to match the previous model’s 0-100 KM/H sprint time of 4.6 seconds en route to its electronically-governed V-max of 270 KM/H.

Moving on to the teaser video itself, we can see that the car sports a few ‘333’ decals around the exterior, notably on the lower side part trim that runs across the doors. There’s also several black parts that contrast against the striking yellow body colour, including on the side mirror caps. More importantly, the Golf R 333 will sport Akrapovic quad sports exhaust system, promising more aggressive pops and crackles compared to the standard R model.

As for the wheel option, this limited-edition model will ride on 19-inch Estoril wheels, with blue-painted brake callipers hiding behind it – a signature Volkswagen R model design cue.

The Volkswagen Golf R 333 limited edition is set to make its global debut later this month. This model will possibly be the final ICE-powered, performance-oriented Golf model ever, with the automaker now planning to continue the Golf’s iconic legacy in a full-blown electrified form for its next-gen iteration.
As for the pricing and units allocated, expect the standard ‘limited-edition’ model convention to apply here. For reference, the Golf R 20 Years Edition clocked in at €60,000 (RM298,445) in selected European markets, so expect a slightly heftier one for the R 333.
