This Special Porsche Design Watch Is For 718 Spyder RS Owners Only!

Following the launch of the Porsche 718 Spyder RS, folks at Porsche Design have launched an exclusive watch curated for owners of the convertible model, dubbed as the Chronograph 718 Spyder RS. On top of its hefty price tag, this special edition watch is only available for purchase by 718 Spyder RS owners.

Handcrafted in Solothurn, Switzerland, Porsche Design adopts the 718’s lightweight ethos in designing the Chronograph 718 Spyder RS. Instead of stainless steel, this special watch sports a lightweight titanium case, finished in either natural titanium or black titanium. 

As for the dial, 718 Spyder RS owners can choose up to 114 colour options via the ‘Paint to Sample’ program. Theoretically, this means that you can match your watch’s dial colour with your car for an ultimate combo.

The carbon fibre dial gives the watch a very sporty edge

The list of premium materials doesn’t end there, as the Chronograph 718 Spyder RS sports a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with seven-fold anti-reflective coating, as well as watch hands made from Super-LumiNova illuminative material. Moreover, this watch also ‘borrows’ some carbon fibre bits from the car for the ‘RS’ dial, while the ‘GT’ dial is draped in black hue.

Meanwhile, the watch strap is made from black-hued leather with Race-Tex material attachment on it – the latter is the same material used inside the cabin of the 718 Spyder RS. If you’re not a fan of the leather strap, there’s an optional titanium bracelet for you to choose, though we suspect you’ll be charged with a hefty premium for it.

As we mentioned earlier, this limited-edition watch is only available for purchase by Porsche 718 Spyder RS owners, with a price tag of $8,800 (RM39,384) excluding the customisation fees. However, you need to spend an initial $160,700 (RM719,212) for the car first, before you get the chance to buy this special edition watch.

The newly-launched Porsche 718 Spyder RS is a drop-top twin of the ear-scorching Porsche 718 GT4 RS, featuring the same 4.0-litre nat-asp flat-six mill that outputs 493 HP and 449 NM. Porsche enthusiasts and sports car fans alike will queue up to buy this topless Porsche as this might be the last ICE-powered 718 model ever, as its next-gen redux will be in an all-electric form.
