After bowing first during the 2023 Manila International Auto Show back in April, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 has officially entered the Philippines market over the recent weekend.
Said nation just east of Borneo is the first in ASEAN to see the striking and sleek four-door electric fastback from the Korean marque go on sale. Online reports from said republic also indicate that brand principals Hyundai Motor Philippines Inc are offering the Ioniq 6 there solely in GLS 2WD Long Range guise.
In this guise, the Ioniq 6 boasts 226 HP and 350 NM, allowing 0-100 KM/H in 7.5 secs and
545 KM of max range.
This sees said fastback primed with a single-motor and rear-wheel-drive (RWD) setup, the former delivering respectable outputs of 229 PS (226 HP) and 350 NM to drive the latter. Juicing said motor is a 77.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack which, according to Hyundai, grants a cruising range of up to 545 KM.
Said package also sees 0-100 KM/H sprints despatched in just 7.5 seconds. Additionally, its electrified powertrain’s 800-volt architecture accepts DC rapid-charging inputs that sees 10-80% charges as quick as 18 minutes, plus built-in vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability that allows it to power a variety of devices.
Dual 12.3-inch digital displays leads the cabin's features list.
Other key luxuries present include leather upholstery, all-LED lighting, dual-zone automatic climate control, Bose audio system, and the Hyundai SmartSense ADAS suite.
In terms of kit, the Ioniq 6 for the Philippines is laced with full LED lighting, 20-inch two-tone alloy wheels, power-folding side mirrors with heating function, dual-zone automatic climate control, leather upholstery, dual 12.3-inch digital displays (instrument display and touchscreen infotainment), wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Bose audio system, and a wireless charging pad.
Mirroring the Ioniq 5, the Ioniq 6 is also primed with the Hyundai SmartSense active driver assist (ADAS) suite. This adds smart cruise control with stop-and-go, lane-keep assist, forward collision avoidance, blind-spot collision warning and avoidance, parking distance warning, reverse parking collision avoidance assist, high-beam assist, surround-view monitor, and rear-cross traffic collision avoidance, amongst many.
In the Philippines, the Ioniq 6 retails for PHP3.798 million, or roughly RM319,132 based on
current exchange rates.
As for price, the PH-spec Ioniq 6 is tagged at PHP3.798 million, which roughly equates to RM319,132 at current exchange rates. At said price, Filipino Ioniq 6 buyers are covered with a 5-year/200,000 KM warranty plus a 5-year or 75,000 KM free maintenance package. Separately, they are also covered with an 8-year or 160,000 KM EV battery warranty.
Given their status as a left-had-drive (LHD) market just like the marque’s Korean home market, it was perhaps unsurprising to see the Philippines receiving the Hyundai Ioniq 6 earlier than other key ASEAN markets, which are right-hand-drive (RHD).
Speaking of which, Malaysia could be next to welcome the Ioniq 6 based on a teaser shown by Hyundai Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) from earlier this year. Word from the grapevine is that the Ioniq 6 is due for launch anytime this quarter. We’ll have more updates and detailed specs once it does.
