Liberty Insurance Announces New Plan Made For Tesla EV Owners

Taking liberty from Tesla Motors Malaysia’s official launch earlier today (pun intended), Liberty Insurance has stepped up as the American EV marque’s preferred insurance partner in Malaysia. Borne out of which is a new coverage plan tailored especially for budding new Tesla EV owners in Malaysia.

Besides Malaysia, Liberty Insurance already stands as the preferred auto insurance partner for Tesla in several other markets within the region. Amongst them are Thailand, Singapore, as well as Hong Kong.

“As a forward-thinking insurance provider, this is also part of our initiative to participate in the global shift towards greener technologies,” adds Puneet Pasricha, CEO of AmGeneral Insurance Berhad – the local firm with which Liberty Insurance had recently merged with.

The 'InsureMyTesla Comprehensive Coverage' policy is offered exclusively to brand new and officially imported Tesla EVs purchased through Tesla Motors Malaysia.


Called ‘InsureMyTesla Comprehensive Coverage’, this is a specially tailored package made exclusively for purchases of brand new, officially imported Tesla EVs from Tesla Motors Malaysia - that means just the Model Y for now. Through this plan, prospecting Malaysian new Tesla buyers can look forward to several perks.

One of which, called the ‘Private Electric Charger Coverage’, sees Liberty reimburse owners up to RM12,000 for actual expenses incurred due to loss of or accidental damage to their private electric charger. Policy-holders are limited to one occurrence per policy year for this.

Next comes a ‘24-Hour Towing Assistance for Accidents or Breakdowns’ service. Aptly, this service provides peace-of-mind through unlimited mileage and round-the-clock towing services and assistance in the event of accidents or breakdowns.

Besides Malaysia, Liberty Insurance also stands as the preferred auto insurance partner to Tesla in markets such as Thailand, Singapore, and Hong Kong.


On top of which comes a ‘24-Hour Towing Assistance for Flat Battery’ service. This sees Liberty offer policy-holders with round-the-clock and unlimited mileage towing assistance to the nearest EV charging station in the event of a flat battery. Owners can claim this service up to three times annually.

Also included is the ‘Key Repair/Replacement’ coverage. Through this, the firm will reimburse owners up to RM1,000 for repair or replacement of car keys or transmitters stemming from theft, robbery, or house break-ins. Policy holders are limited to one occurrence per policy year for this.

Available too are the ‘All Drivers Covered’ and ‘Warranty for Workmanship Repair’ coverages. The former sees all authorised drivers of the vehicle covered by a comprehensive protection plan, whilst the latter benefits owners with up to 12 months for workmanship on repairs by Tesla’s panel of trusted workshops.

Besides the unique services and coverages, this Tesla-specific package from Liberty Insurance also has a range of optional add-ons available such as special perils.


These, by the are way, are just key highlights of the InsureMyTesla Comprehensive Coverage plan offered by Liberty Insurance. Similar to other auto insurance plans, the firm has a wide range of optional add-ons including windscreen, special perils, as well as legal liability to and of passengers, available too.
