Tesla Will Set Up Malaysian HQ In Selangor This Year - PM

According to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Tesla will establish its Malaysian headquarters in Selangor this year.
Anwar said in a statement that he met with Tesla CEO Elon Musk virtually this morning, and that he was joined by SpaceX senior director Lauren Dreyer, investment, trade, and industry minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz, and communications and digital minister Fahmi Fadzil.
Anwar warmly welcomed Tesla's interest and decision to invest in Malaysia during the 25-minute meeting, adding that Musk expressed his willingness to visit Malaysia soon.
The Prime Minister also congratulated Musk and stated the government’s support over the establishment of Tesla’s Malaysian headquarters as well as service and experience centres in Selangor this year.
He also praised SpaceX's decision to operate as an internet service provider using low-orbit satellites, saying it would lead to faster and more widespread internet connectivity, particularly in rural areas.
He stated that this initiative could benefit people all over the world and that it only required a small amount of land to improve global internet connectivity. Anwar reiterated Putrajaya's commitment to reaching net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 at the latest. "Malaysia has a comprehensive plan and ecosystem, as well as competitive resources, to support the clean energy industry, including electric mobility," he explained.
