EarthCruiser Shows Off Ultimate Overland Camper Based On GMC Hummer EV
This GMC Hummer EV has been outfitted for overlanding by specialist EarthCruiser.
Specialist Australian travel and camping firm EarthCruiser recently showed off its latest creation based on the new and now all-electric GMC Hummer. The renowned firm chose to equip it with a host of equipment that allow it – and its occupants – to survive off the grid for up to a week even.
According the EarthCruiser, the GMC Hummer EV Overland vehicle was designed to offer a “new standard in zero-tailpipe emission overlanding possibilities.” To demonstrate that, the firm outfitted this EV SUV with a carbon fibre camper-style module at the rear section, complete with a roof-top tent.
Said module adopted “insulated tri-layer” carbon fibre for its construction, which EarthCruiser also claims to be fully integrated into the Hummer’s chassis. It can expand vertically to increase space on board with 2,032 MM of standing room, as well as accommodating two adults via an 889 MM “full RV bed”.
The camper-style module is built using "insulated tri-layer" carbon fibre construction. When extended, it provides 2,032 MM of standing room whilst the 889 MM "full RV bed" can accommodate two adults.
Next, EarthCruiser primed the Hummer with a 605-watt solar system that juices a 6 kWh 12-volt lithium battery. This, according to EarthCruiser is capable of powering the camper plus a selection of standard on-board appliances for up to seven days. Control for which is accessible via a 7-inch touchscreen.
Apart from which, EarthCruiser also curated a selection of appliances on board. Highlights include both an indoor and outdoor shower, flat-pack toilet, both 120-volt and 12-volt power outlets, water heater, refrigerator/freezer, as well as dimmable interior lighting, amongst many.
Other notable amenities primed include a sink, a kitchen powered by induction cooktops, filtered and unfiltered water, integrated storage drawers and cabinets plus a bed with underbed storage, 51-litre fresh water capacity, exterior lighting, exterior recovery gear storage, and more.
This overland upfit package for the GMC Hummer EV will be available via EarthCruiser starting next year.
Though there aren’t any details released surrounding powertrain, it is assumed this overland special sees its base car’s original powertrain choices retained. The highest form of which sees a tri-motor setup that outputs a combined 1,000 HP with a claimed max range of 613 KM too.
Though built in partnership with GMC, the automaker says it won’t cover the upfit package with its manufacturer warranty. However, the package can be acquired and commissioned via EarthCruiser, and will be available in 2024.
Currently, this EarthCruiser overland upfit package for the GMC Hummer EV is unique in its marketspace in featuring a full-electric powertrain base car.
