Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli confirmed that the government is not discussing lowering the retail price of RON95 fuel and diesel, according to The Star.
According to him, the RON95 price drop rumour is the first he has heard.
“Until now, I have never heard, in fact, there has never been any discussion about it,” he said at a press conference after launching the 2022 Household Income and Expenditure Survey (HIES) Report here on Friday.
In fact, he claimed that the global crude oil price has risen to US$70 per barrel, having previously reached around US$83 per barrel.
"The decision to lower fuel prices is actually under the Ministry of Finance because it involves the allocation of fuel subsidies," Rafizi explained.
MIDF Research previously predicted that the government would consider lowering the retail price of RON95 by 10 sen to RM1.95 per litre next month.
