Rimac Nevera Smokes Tesla For Nurburgring EV Lap Record

The Rimac Nevera Time Attack Edition tacking the Nurburgring Nordschleife to set a new EV lap record at said infamous 'Green Hell'.
There’s now a new EV lap record set around the infamous ‘Green Hell’ that is the Nurburgring Nordschleife, and it sees previous record holders Tesla and Porsche beaten by significant margins too. The car that takes the Nurburgring EV lap record crown now is of course the Rimac Nevera.
The groundbreaking Croatian marque chose to announce and reveal their attempt during last weekend Monterey Car Week event. This was done in conjunction with the marque introducing the Nevera Time Attack Edition, of which the firm plans to produce just 12 units, all dressed in the same livery as the record-setting car.

The Rimac Nevera set a blistering new Nurburgring EV lap record of 7:05.298,beating Tesla's time by 20 seconds!
The firm notes that the record-setting attempt was done using a production version of the Nevera EV hypercar offering that was shod with Michelin Cup2R tyres. The record-setting car also wore a special and rather striking green and black livery inspired by brand founder and CEO Mate Rimac’s e-M3.
Despite difficulties stemming from poor weather and hot track conditions, the Rimac Nevera still logged a blistering time of 7 minutes 5.298 seconds [7:05.298] around the infamous course measuring 20.83 KM. Moreover, the final time was confirmed via Independent timing data, TÜV SÜD, and on-board telemetry.
The feat, achieved by Croatian racing driver Martin Kodrić at the wheel, saw Rimac shatter the last record set by Tesla by 20 seconds or so. Tesla last held the Nurburgring EV lap record when a Model S Plaid primed with a ‘Track Package’ logged in 7 minutes 25.23 seconds [7:25.23] back in June this year.

The new and limited-run Rimac Nevera Time Attack Edition. Just 12 will be built, all dressed in the same black-green livery as the record-setting car.
This devastatingly quick pace stems from the Nevera’s quad-motors (one on each wheel) setup. Juiced by a 120 kWh battery, total output reads at 1 megawatt (mW) – roughly 1,914 HP and 2,360 NM. This, in turn, sees enables said hypercar to despatch 0-60 MPH (96 KM/H) in just 1.74 seconds plus a 412 KM/H V-Max.
“In many ways the Nevera has reinvented the world of the hypercar, bringing new technologies, new abilities, and new levels of performance. But the simplest way we can demonstrate its capabilities is to go out and break records. And that’s exactly what we’ve done in 2023 time and again,” expressed Mate Rimac.

A cheeky slogan etched on the Rimac Nevera Time To Attack special edition.
What’s remarkable too is how much closer the Rimac Nevera stands as an EV against the outright fastest car around the Nurburgring. Right now, sad crown belongs to the Mercedes-AMG One F1-derived road-legal hypercar, which logged in a laptime of 6 minutes 35.183 [6:35.183] seconds around the Green Hell last Nov.
You can watch the record-setting run set by the Rimac Nevera in the video attached below and marvel at just how rapid 7 minutes or so looks like from the hot seat…
