Bus Services In Klang Valley Will Be Integrated - Loke
Bus service routes in the Klang Valley will be coordinated by the Ministry of Transport through the Land Public Transport Agency in order to become more integrated in the future, The Star reported.
Three different bus services, including Rapid Bus, the free GoKL buses run by the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), and the Smart Selangor buses run by the Selangor government, according to its minister Anthony Loke, are currently operating in the area.
According to Loke, the routes must be coordinated in order to be more integrated and avoid overlapping.
We hope this integration and collaboration can help provide a smoother, more efficient bus service and increase the number of passengers,” he added.
After reviewing the operation of the Rapid KL bus lanes from Pandan Indah to Masjid Jamek, he was greeted by the company's CEO Muhammad Yazurin Sallij Muhammad Yassin.
Only 724 buses, according to Loke, were running in the Klang Valley each day, which is a small number when compared to the nearly 4,000 buses required for an effective service.
Nevertheless, he stated that Rapid Bus would keep working to increase that number; it is anticipated that 1,000 buses will be in service every day by the end of this year.
"About 150 Rapid KL buses are still being serviced and are ready to be reactivated. Additionally, we are hiring new bus drivers. For instance, routes not serviced by our buses will be contracted out to other drivers,"
“The number of daily passengers using the bus lanes, which began operating in July, has increased by 12%, from 12,936 to 14,523, saving about 20 minutes when compared to using private vehicles”, he said.
He also expressed concern about private vehicles using the bus lanes, which is inconvenient for the buses.
For the record, A pilot project for bus lanes was launched on July 3 by DBKL and Rapid Bus along Routes 300 from Pandan Indah to Lebuh Ampang and Route 303 from Taman Mulia Jaya to Lebuh Ampang.
The community along the Jalan Ampang corridor, which wants to enter the city centre for work, benefits from the bus lanes, which are open from 6am to 9am on Monday through Friday.
