Prasarana Malaysia Berhad has announced that all rail lines, the Sunway BRT, several bus routes, and selected Rapid On-Demand (ROD) zones will operate round the clock from 6am on August 30 until 11.30pm on August 31.
The move is aimed at easing travel for crowds heading to National Day events across the Klang Valley and Putrajaya.
“As the country’s largest public transport operator, we are proud to be part of the heartbeat of the people in celebrating National Month. This is not just about mobility, but also about unity and love for the nation,” said Prasarana group president and CEO Amir Hamdan at a press conference in Pasar Seni.
To ensure smooth journeys, more than 5,000 frontline staff will be deployed. Amir added that last year’s 24-hour service served as a valuable guide to improve operations this time around.
“We are confident this year’s services will be smoother and safer. Our hope is for Malaysians to come together in large numbers and embrace the spirit of independence in harmony,” he said.
Bus services will also be beefed up, with 235 buses covering 86 routes on Merdeka Eve and 308 buses on 100 routes on National Day.
In Putrajaya, 96 free shuttle buses will run on three routes to Dataran Putrajaya, while 20 ROD vans will serve five zones from Putrajaya Sentral and one zone in the Central Business District.

Rides can be booked through the MyRapid Pulse app for RM1.
The public is advised to follow on-ground instructions, avoid blocking bus lanes, and ensure their Touch ’n Go cards have enough balance for smooth travel.
