While Malaysians are still hyped from the launch of the all-new Honda Civic Type R FL5 today, Honda fans in Japan and across the globe have got another thing to be excited about.

Ahead of the upcoming 2023 Japan Mobility Show (JMS), Honda has announced its lineup for one of the world’s biggest and most important motor shows, featuring a slew of new concept EV models, ranging from two-wheelers to even sportscars.

As for now, we can't be sure whether the new Honda Specialty Sports Concept will bear any resemblance with the Honda Sports EV Concept unveiled back in 2017

Also known as the Tokyo Motor Show, Honda’s lineup at this year’s JMS will be headlined by the all-new Honda Specialty Sports Concept. Unfortunately, Honda hasn’t released any teaser images of renderings of this new sporty concept model, with the only bits we know about it being the all-electric powertrain it carries.

Instead, Honda only throws some vague flowery words to describe this new concept EV, with the automaker promising that "the joy of driving and distinctive individuality of this model will enable people to transcend their everyday life." As for now, our best bet is to wait until its official launch later in Oct.

Next in line is the compact Honda Sustaina-C Concept EV, which looks like a smaller version of the Honda e EV hatch. Unique to this cutesy concept EV hatch is its lightweight bodywork, which is made from acrylic resin that can be recycled and reused for other purposes. Similar to the sporty EV concept, no details regarding its powertrain were disclosed at this moment.

Another concept EV hatch debuting at the JMS is the small, two-seater Honda CI-MEV. Intended more for last-mile mobility like the Citroen Ami, the CI-MEV comes equipped with some automated driving tech that’ll come in handy for short travel distances such as in urban areas.

Aside from cars, Honda’s showcase at the JMS will also feature several two-wheeled EVs. First thing is the Honda Pocket Concept, which seems like a rugged and smaller version of the Honda MotoCompacto foldable e-scooter we saw earlier, with a predominantly red tinge.

Honda SC e: Concept e-scooter

This is followed by a proper e-scooter concept known as the Honda SC e: Concept, which uses the same Honda Mobile Power Pack swappable batteries as we saw on the Benly e: scooters. Unlike their other commercial e-scooters, the SC e: Concept is catered for personal use, featuring a two-seat layout like any conventional ICE-powered scooters instead of a cargo storage compartment.

Honda Prologue Prototype EV SUV

Also making its first public appearance in the Land of the Rising Sun is the new Honda Prologue Prototype – a concept EV SUV model borne out of the marque’s collaboration with General Motors (GM). Poised to be launched as a full production version later in 2024 for the American market, the Prologue Prototype sports GM’s proprietary Ultium battery pack that is also used on several GM EVs like the Chevrolet Blazer.

The 2023 Japan Mobility Show will kick-start later on Oct 25, where it will witness several new and upcoming models not only from Honda, but also from other renowned Japanese automakers.
