Jalan Sungai Besi/PJ, Bulatan Loke Yew & More Closed - 2 Oct 2023 To 1 Oct 2024
-full_normal.jpg)
Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL) has announced that Jalan Sungai Besi, leading to Sg. Besi/Petaling Jaya (across from Fraser Business Park), and the Loke Yew Roundabout will undergo phased closures for all traffic from October 2, 2023, to October 1, 2024, due to renovation and bridge construction at the Loke Yew Roundabout.
Consequently, traffic from Kg. Pandan Roundabout heading to Sg. Besi/Petaling Jaya will be redirected into two sections: one route via the adjacent road near Federal Bakery and another route entering the contraflow lane in the adjacent lane.
Similarly, traffic from Sg. Besi/Petaling Jaya heading to Kg. Pandan Roundabout will be divided into two sections: one lane will turn left through the Loke Yew Roundabout, and one lane will stay in its current path.
As the Loke Yew Roundabout will remain closed, traffic from Cheras on Jalan Loke Yew will only be permitted to make U-turns toward Jalan Loke Yew in the direction of Cheras. These traffic route adjustments will be permanent.
For an alternative route from Cheras to Jalan Sungai Besi, you can use Jalan Chan Sow Lin, Jalan Satu, Jalan Dua, and Jalan Tiga. If you're travelling from Cheras and heading to Jalan Yew, a U-turn must be made at the 'fly-over' intersection on Jalan Maharajalela. This also applies to traffic coming from Cheras and heading to the nearby areas of Jalan Yew.
Traffic from Jalan Kinabalu and Jalan Sungai Besi to Jalan Yew will be redirected onto Jalan Yew towards Pudu Roundabout exclusively. The alternative route includes making a U-turn at SMK (P) Pudu, and this traffic route adjustment is permanent. Meanwhile, the traffic route from Jalan Yew at Kg. Pandan Roundabout to Jalan Kinabalu and Jalan Kuching will be closed during the construction period.
The alternative route involves using Jalan Kg. Pandan, Jalan Imbi, and Jalan Hang Tuah. Regarding the demolition of the ramp and the reconstruction of the bridge at Bulatan Pudu, heading towards Jalan Sungai Besi (next to Pudu Police Station), the ramp road from Jalan Pudu to Jalan Yew will be closed to all traffic during the same period. The alternative route is via Jalan Sungai Besi, Jalan Chan Sow Lin, Jalan Satu, Jalan Dua, and Jalan Tiga.
Those who are travelling along this route are advised to plan your journey ahead and abide by all signages put up to ease congestion.
