2025 PJ Half Marathon Road Closures Start Tomorrow – Aug 16
Petaling Jaya is gearing up for the 35th edition of the PJ Half Marathon this Sunday (Aug 17), with 8,000 participants expected to take their marks at Laman MBPJ.
Petaling Jaya Deputy Mayor Aznan Hassan said the city is proud to host athletes from 34 countries, noting particularly strong representation from Japan, Singapore, Philippines, Netherlands and India.
“This year, the 30KM open category has surprisingly attracted the largest turnout, with 2,600 entries, more than any other distance. It shows the growing appetite for long-distance events, and gives us confidence to consider a full marathon in the future,” he added.
The race programme will feature five categories: the 30KM, 21KM and 10KM open runs plus a 5KM fun run and a 1KM costume-themed run.
Preparations will begin tomorrow (Aug 16) at 6PM, with Jalan Yong Shook Lin in front of MBPJ closed until noon on race day. Additional roads will be closed in phases between 4AM and 11AM on Sunday (Aug 17), while rolling closures will take place from 3.30AM to 9AM across several parts of the city to make way for runners.
Motorists are advised to use Jalan Barat for access to Section 14 and Seapark, and Jalan 222 for central areas.
Roads affected include Jalan Sultan, Jalan Barat, Jalan Utara, Jalan Timur, Jalan Changgai 6/22, Jalan Gasing, Jalan Templer, Jalan Selangor, Jalan Pasar 1/21, Jalan Railway 2/28, Jalan 2/27, Jalan Penchala, Persiaran PP Narayanan, Jalan 229, Jalan Baiduri SS1/22, Jalan SS1/36 and Jalan SS2/24.
Also affected are Jalan 19/8, Jalan Harapan, Jalan 19/1, Jalan 21/1, Jalan 20/13, Jalan 20/14, Jalan 14/47, Jalan 14/48, Jalan 51A/223, Jalan Dato Rais Jamil 15, Jalan Semangat, Jalan Universiti, Jalan Kemajuan, Jalan 12/15 and Persiaran Barat.
Traffic police and MBPJ personnel will be on duty to manage diversions, guide motorists and ensure safety.
