MAM Set to Organise The Inaugural APMC in Sepang This Year

The APMC is coming to Sepang International Circuit this year!
The Asia Pacific Motorsport Championship (APMC) is slated to be held at the Sepang International Circuit this month. Organised by the Motorsport Association of Malaysia (MAM), this inaugural, one-of-its-kind event is set to revolutionise and elevate the region’s motorsport scene.
Taking inspiration from the successful biennial FIA Motorsport Games, the APMC is aimed to provide a ‘cost-effective’ access to the motorsport world for burgeoning local talent, thus providing a unique opportunity for emerging talents around the region to garner a broader recognition in this prestigious stage.

Commenting on this inaugural motorsport event, MAM president Tan Sri Mokhzani Mahathir said, “As organisers of the inaugural championship, we are pleased to have been selected by the FIA to host and action-packed weekend of motorsport excitement, showcasing the region's top talents. This nomination is testament to us in MAM and Malaysia as a whole to be a leading contributor in the growth and development of Motorsports in the Asia Pacific Region.
“APMC is all about opening doors to an international stage, allowing competitors to share their passion and skills with a wider audience. Teams, drivers, and participants will benefit from the exposure and experience that only an event of this magnitude can provide,” Tan Sri Mokhzani added.




A total of five motorsport discipline will be competed at the inaugural APMC, including e-Sports!
For the inaugural APMC, a total of five disciplines will be contested, with all of them governed by the National Competition Rules of the Motorsports Association of Malaysia, which incorporates the FIA International Sporting Code. The five disciplines are Karting, Karting Slalom, Auto-Gymkhana, Rally, as well as e-Sports.
As the region’s first event of its kind, 23 Asian-Pacific countries will be participating in the APMC this year, including Singapore, South Korea, Japan, Australia, as well as New Zealand. All these nations will be aiming for the gold medal in each event as the medal tally will be used to determine the overall winner later.

Renowned Malaysian racing driver Jazeman Jaafar will be captaining Team Malaysia for APMC
While the representatives of our nation for this event has yet to be finalised, the APMC’s Team Malaysia will be led and managed by Jazeman Jaafar – a renowned and experienced local racing driver who previously served as a Formula One Development Driver, as well as a one-time FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) race winner.

Aside from being the region’s first-of-its-kind motorsport event, the APMC is also getting full support from the global motorsports governing body, the FIA. In supporting the APMC’s effort to revolutionise motorsport in this region, FIA president Mohamed Ben Sulayem said, “We saw how successful the FIA Motorsport Games has been in the past few years, and it’s a fantastic initiative to have that same concept now in the Asia Pacific region.”
“With the biennial FIA Motorsport Games not being held this year, this is also a great opportunity for competitors to showcase their skills for potential opportunities when the Games return next year,” the FIA president added.
