Melaka Will Introduce Multi-Storey Mobile Mechanical Parking In Banda Hilir
The Malacca Historic City Council (MBMB) intends to implement mechanical parking in the Banda Hilir area for public convenience, particularly with the implementation of the Vehicle Free Zone on Saturdays.
Datuk Shadan Othman, Mayor of MBMB, stated that the matter was being investigated, including the search for an appropriate location to develop the parking system, which employs multi-story mobile parking technology.

“Although the public has several other parking sites as an alternatives such as at the Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) and Taman Rempah, or to take a water taxi to Banda Hilir, this initiative to introduce mechanical parking is aimed at increasing the number of parking spaces in the Banda Hilir area,” he told Bernama.
Meanwhile, he stated that with the implementation of the Vehicle Free Zone, Banda Hilir recorded more than 12,000 visitors every Saturday using the 'crowd monitoring system' installed at the Clock Tower at the Stadthuys building here.
Shadan stated that the Vehicle Free Zone implementation received a positive response from the public, with many people requesting that the Vehicle Free Zone be implemented on a few other days.
