Shell Opens World's Largest EV Charging Station In Shenzhen, China

The energy giant Shell has unveiled its biggest EV charging station ever In Shenzhen, China. There are 258 public fast-charging stations at the charging station.
It is run by the joint venture between Shell and BYD called Shenzhen Shell and BYD Electric Vehicle Investment Company Limited, CNEVpost reported.
During its trial run, the Shell Recharge Shenzhen Airport EV Station provided daily service to more than 3,300 EVs.

About 300,000 kilowatt-hours of renewable electricity could be produced annually by the rooftop solar panels at the station and used to charge customers' cars.
A strategic cooperation agreement was signed by Shell and BYD in March 2022 to hasten the energy transition and enhance the charging experiences for EV users.

István Kapitány, Shell’s Global Executive Vice President for Mobility, says: “The opening of this new site is part of our ongoing commitment to meet the evolving needs of our customers in China”

“We know that EV drivers are looking for a charging experience that is fast, convenient and comfortable and this is reflected in the utilisation rates of our sites in China, which are two to three times the local industry average. China is one of the most important growth markets for Shell Mobility. We look forward to offering pleasant mobility experiences to more customers in China in the future.”
Shell currently has over 40,000 public charge points worldwide at service stations, mobility hubs, on-street, and at locations such as supermarkets, with a goal of having around 200,000 by 2030.
