This is the new Polestar Synergy concept EV hypercar that's being showcased at IAA Munich 2023 this week.

While it appear so, the Polestar Synergy concept pictured isn’t a mere rendering. In fact, the Geely-owned Swedish EV luxury and performance marque went to the extent of building a full-scale prototype for this week’s IAA Munich 2023 show.

Following its debut in Munich this week, the concept is set to be immortalised as a scale model. This, in turn, will also signal the start of a collaboration between Polestar and Mattel, and it will include the latter’s Hot Wheels and Matchbox brands creating their pint-sized versions of its production models.

The radical exterior design combines the winning designs penned by Paris-based designers Devashish Deshmukh and Swapnil Desai.

As its name implies, the Polestar Synergy is a combination of three winning design entries from the 2022 Polestar Design Contest, albeit this final output has input from the automaker’s design studio too. The theme of said contest was sustainable performance, explaining the concept’s zero-emissions nature.

According to Polestar, the exterior design combines the winning proposals of Paris based designers Devashish Deshmukh and Swapnil Desai. The cabin, on the other hand, is based on a winning design submission by Chinese designer Yingxiang Li.

The 'cockpit' of the Polestar Synergy concept is equally as radical as its exterior, with the single-seat layout sporting a Formula 1-styled wheel matched with two high-tech digital display modules.

Polestar adds that the effort to merge all three designers’ works into the Synergy concept took roughly six months, and it took the collaborative efforts of both the winning trio and Polestar’s own design team.

On display at the Munich show this week, the Polestar Synergy concept all-electric hypercar sits 4,560 MM long and just 1,070 MM tall. Sporting extreme proportions, the concept also sees various openings that channel air around the bodywork.

Polestar didn't go into details surrounding powertrain and performance, but given the way it looks, the Synergy concept aspires to hit radical speeds.

On board, the single-seat cabin appears more racecar than road car. Notable touches here is the Formula 1-styled steering wheel, as well as the digital displays primed – one ahead of the wheel and another integrated into the wheel itself.

“This year, the story is as much about collaboration as performance. I’m proud that the team were able to guide and support the winners to realize their dream as a full-scale model,” said Maximillian Missoni, Polestar’s design head.

Besides a full-sized prototype of the Synergy concept, Volvo is also showcasing a 'sustainability-focused' go-kart alongside it.

“The concept proves that EVs can be just as, if not more, exciting than their ICE equivalents,” adds Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath. After being exhibited in Munich, the Polestar Synergy will take part in a tour of the US tour in the Hot Wheels Legends Tour starting next month.

Shown alongside the Polestar Synergy EV hypercar too is a sustainability-focused go-kart. The brainchild, of Polish designer Kamil Kozil, it received honourable mention whilst being showcased alongside the radical EV hypercar concept from Polestar in Munich.
