Audi Q6 e-tron High-Tech Cabin Unveiled Featuring 3 Screens, AR Tech, And Android Software
The upcoming Audi Q6 e-tron shows off its high-tech cabin ahead of this week's IAA Munich 2023 show.
Audi is set to show off its upcoming new Q6 e-tron EV SUV at this week’s IAA Munich 2023 show. Ahead of which, the four-ringed marque has opted to release images and details of said model’s high-tech cabin.
A technological tour-de-force, there’s up to main displays available, two of which form a panoramic display panel consisting of a 11.9-inch digital instrumentation and a 14.5-inch central infotainment unit. Notably, the latter runs off a new Android Automotive-based system.
Said Android-based system features a built-in app store, as well as a digital assistant that’s sports AI-learning abilities and represented by an avatar. Audi claims this assistant continuously learns from your behaviour to better understand both you and your needs.
Up to three displays screens are present including a dedicated 10.9-inch passenger display unit.
The novel new AR display tech explained in detail. It has the ability to project info and make it appear as if it sits 200 metres ahead of the car and driver's vision.
Aside from these two core displays, the Q6 e-tron’s dash sees its passenger-side panel brimmed with a 10.9-inch display as well. Featuring shutter technology, it enables front seat passengers to watch movies without distracting the driver.
Whilst on the matter of displays still, this high-tech dash brimmed in the Q6 e-tron also boasts an augmented reality (AR) head-up display (HUD) module too. This tech was designed to project information – including navigation – in a way as if it was 200 metres ahead of the vehicle and driver’s vision.
Next comes a novel interactive light bar that wraps around the dash’s upper section where it’s tasked with visualising other key information such as turn signals and charging status. Available as an upgrade too is a 22-speaker Bang & Olufsen premium audio suite complete with speakers integrated in the front headrests.
The main displays feature both an 11.9-inch digital instrument panel and a 14.9-inch central infotainment unit. The latter runs off an Android Automotive-based software and features AI-learning abilities.
These aside, it’s fair to say that the rest of the Q6 e-tron’s cabin seems conventional featuring a sporty flat-bottomed steering wheel design and high-gloss black accents. Brushed aluminium, birch, or sweetgum trim choices are also available.
Said cabin stand to be very sustainable too thanks to floor mats made from recycled fishing nets, carpets, and industrial waste. Opt for the S Line variants and it gets recycled Elastic Melange fabric added alongside a Dinamica microfibre option. Available here too are anthracite aluminium or anthracite mesh trim choices.
Lastly, the Q6 e-tron promises to be rather practical too thanks to its sizeable standard boot space of 526 litres. This figure nearly triples to 1,529 litres with the rear seats folded, and there’s also a generous 64-litre bin present up front serving as the ‘frunk’.
Expect more details from the model's showcase at this week's IAA Munich 2023 show.
Audi already detailed the Q6 e-tron’s powertrain earlier this year whereby the EV SUV will sport a 100-kWh battery that forms an 800-volt EV architecture. This allows the Q6 e-tron to support DC fast charging up to 270 kW, thus enabling 10% to 80% charges in less than 30 minutes.
Much like the Q8 e-tron, expect the Q6 e-tron to come in various guises and trims with a ‘sportback’ bodystyle option. During the IAA Munich 2023 show later this week, Audi is expected to show the model in near-final form before production starts at the end of this year.
