The Japanese kei car market is getting a newly-updated contender, as Nissan reveals the 2024 Model Year (2024 MY) update for the Nissan Dayz kei car. Mostly covering the visual aspects, the updated Nissan Dayz gets refreshed exterior, while the cabin now bestows with a slew of new equipment and comfort amenities.

Starting with its exterior, the 2024 MY Nissan Dayz now sports a redesigned front grille that incorporates the marque’s signature V-Motion grille design which we’ve seen on other Nissan models, which is then flanked by newly-designed headlights. Meanwhile, the up-specced Dayz Highway Star variant comes with a chrome-plated line and wide horizontal rear bumper, while riding on snazzier 14-inch machined aluminium wheels.

On board, the updated Nissan Dayz gets a pretty comprehensive update, courtesy of a slew of new comfort amenities and equipment. Depending on the trim, the Dayz gets a full-leather perforated upholstery with exterior colour-matching accents. Nissan has also maximised this kei car’s tight cabin space with some smart storage compartments like a deeper storage tray, a new cardholder, and many more. Meanwhile, its steering is now offered with a heated function.

The 2024 MY Nissan Dayz is still powered by the 660-CC nat-asp mill as before

As expected, this 2024 MY update sees no changes on the Dayz’s 0.66-litre nat-asp mill, which still generates 48 HP on the baseline model, while the upper variants get a peppier 64 HP output. Said mill is still mated to the same CVT gearbox as before, with both front-wheel drive (FWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) configurations offered as standard, depending on the variant.

Exclusively available in the Japanese domestic market (JDM), the 2024 MY Nissan Dayz kei car starts at JPY 1.437 million (RM) for the baseline S trim, which can go up to JPY 2.08 million (RM) for the range-topping Highway Star G Turbo Pro Pilot Edition.  While local Nissan vanguard Edaran Tan Chong Motor (ETCM) does not officially offer the Dayz into our local market, we can somewhat expect them to end up in several private car dealers here in Malaysia as a fully-imported (CBU) recon unit in few years’ time.

So folks, what do you think of the updated Nissan Dayz? Would you prefer this Nissan-badged kei car over the likes of Honda N-Box, Mitsubishi Delica Mini, or even the rugged Daihatsu Tanto Fun Cross? As always, don’t forget to leave your thoughts in the comments down below..
