A crucial milestone for Tesla owners in Malaysia and Singapore was reached today with the official opening of Tesla's first Supercharging facility at the Sunway Big Box in Johor. With its rapid charging capabilities, this station opens the door for smooth cross-country road travels especially for Singaporeans who travel often to Johor Bahru.
Furthermore, for a limited time Tesla owners can benefit from a special Supercharging rate of RM0.63/kWh to commemorate the opening of this station. The Sunway Big Box would house four (4) units of the Tesla V3 Supercharger and a single unit of Tesla destination charger. However these charging facility is strictly for Tesla owners and is not open to other makes.
The Johor Supercharging station is the second of its kind in Malaysia after the opening of the Pavillion KL Supercharging station. This station offers Tesla owners a range of charging options and is conveniently positioned to be accessible from Singapore through causeways.
According to Tesla, a Model Y performance using V3 Supercharging technology with a peak efficiency of 250 kW can recharge up to 270 kilometres of range in under 15 minutes. More stations are slated to emerge in the near future as part of Tesla's commitment to growing its charging network in Malaysia as per its entry condition under the MITI Global Leader Initiative.
It is also good to point out that the Sunway Big Box Supercharger facility was also awarded its Energy Commission (ST) licence today.
