This Tuned Perodua Myvi Is Ready For The Sepang 1000 KM Endurance Race!
Newly-rebranded DMM 2024 Speedster racing team is set to compete in the 2023 Sepang 1000 KM Endurance Race with the special Perodua Myvi S1K racecar
Making its inaugural public debut at the ongoing IAM-MIME 2023 motor show this weekend is a souped-up, track-ready Perodua Myvi that is tuned by DMM 204 Speedster – a re-branded racing outfit that is set to compete in the upcoming 2023 Sepang 1000 KM endurance race, taking place later next month.
Dubbed as the Myvi S1K, this beloved hatchback has been tuned to take on the toughest endurance race series in the nation, competing in the SP2V category. Interestingly, this souped-up hatchback will be the sole Perodua Myvi to compete in this category, battling against the likes of Honda Jazz, Suzuki Swift, and many more.
Before being rebranded as DMM 204 Speedster, the Myvi S1K previously competed in the Sepang 1000 KM endurance race under a different outfit, where the tuned-up hatch took an impressive P10 class finish.
Built upon the pre-facelift third-gen Perodua Myvi model, the Myvi S1K is powered by the same 1.5-litre 4-cyl VVTi mill as its road-going twin, which is mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission. As per racing regulations, no modifications were made to its powertrain setup per se, however this souped-up hatchback gets upgrades on other parts.
Said upgrades include a performance air filter, full race custom exhaust system, fully-adjustable damper system, four-pot brake callipers with endurance brake pads and braided hose – all while riding on 15-inch Raxer performance wheels shod in Yokohama Advan AD09 ultra-high performance tyres. More importantly, the car’s chassis has also been reinforced with a six-point FIA-spec racing roll cage, while most of its wear-and-tear components are sourced from original Perodua parts.
The DMM 204 Speedster racing team will feature a whole new management and drivers' lineup
Aside from the re-branding, the new DMM 204 Speedster racing outfit is also being led by former Perodua managing director Datuk Dr. Zahari Husin as a new Team Principal, which will be assisted by two former racecar drivers Shafiq Rosli and Fariqe Hairuman – both assuming the Race Director and Race Technical Director positions respectively. As for the drivers’ lineup, the Myvi S1K will be piloted by fellow Sepang 1K alum Faiz Sulaiman, alongside GT racecar driver Ashraff Dewal and the winner of the driver search program, Aiman Haziq.
Also helping DMM 204 Speedster to compete in this pinnacle of Malaysian endurance racing this year is a slew of new sponsors.Coming in as the title sponsor for the team will be DMM Performance, a sub-brand of DMM Sales, the largest Perodua authorised dealer in Malaysia. Also showering the team with support are names like Vort-X Malaysia, EXN, Wrap Autowerks, Raxer Wheels, Max Racing, AES, 4 Qul, Fawster, Recaro Malaysia, RnR Autosport, 204 Autoworks, and MS Racing.
Prior of making its racing debut at the upcoming 2023 Sepang 1000 KM Endurance Race from Nov 23 to 26 at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC), the all-new DMM 204 Speedster Myvi S1K racecar will be on display at the ongoing IAM-MIME 2023 showcase, where keen motorsport enthusiasts and Myvi fans alike can come and check it out firsthand.
The IAM-MIME 2023 showcase is happening throughout this weekend, taking place at MITEC Kuala Lumpur from Oct 27 to 29. Tickets for the show can be purchase via MIME’s official website, with daily entry pass priced at RM30 for each entrants, whilst children ages 12 and below (accompanied by at least 1 adult) enjoy free admission.
