Photo: Sin Chew Daily. Genting Highlands has long been a popular tourist destination due to its diverse array of attractions.

However, the next time one pays a visit, there may be a toll fee.

Rumours have circulated that Genting Highlands will charge a toll fee after photos of what appeared to be a toll gantry began appearing online. IMG_2234-800x600.jpeg

According to Sin Chew Daily, toll booths are being built in two locations: midway up Genting Highlands and near the Gohtong Jaya intersection leading to Batang Kali. However, there has been no word on the fare or when toll collection will begin.

Lingkaran Cekap, a division of Genting Malaysia, which runs the casinos at Resorts World Genting and the SkyWorlds Theme Park, will be in charge of managing the toll, FMT reported.
It was speculated that the toll would cost visitors between RM2.50 and RM3.50 due to a post by Facebook user Vincent Chow. IMG_20231020_090854.jpg

Some argue that the upkeep and maintenance of Genting Highlands' roads requires significant funding. As a result, the decision was made to install toll booths.
