Shell Recharge 360 kW DCFC At Highland Hotel Genting Now Operational
-full.jpg)
Finally, Genting Highlands is now home to one of the country's fastest DC charging facilities (DCFC) by Shell Recharge, which is tucked away in the open-air parking lot of the Highland Hotel Genting.
This 360 kW DCFC facility, officially announced back in Dec 2023, has come operational at a speedy pace - just two (2) months after an initial Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was inked between Shell, Genting Malaysia Berhad and Porsche Malaysia (SDAP – Sime Darby Auto Performance).
CariCarz.com was made aware of this DCFC stations readiness via a Group Chat on WhatsApp, and a quick check on the ParkEasy App - the backend application that activates all Shell Recharge charging stations - also shows its availability now.

However, it appears that the facility does lack two AC charger units, as opposed to the 10 EV Charging Bay (EVCB) - four DCFCs and six AC chargers - initially announced during the MoU signing mentioned.
Based on the images shared during said ceremony, the facility was supposed to also provide its users proper shaded charging, but this too seems absent. This might just be the result of the facility not being fully operational yet and not having a licence from the Energy Commission (ST), which is why no announcements of its activation was made yet.

Having said that, the four DCFCs and four AC chargers at this station are already online and activated, according to the ParkEasy App. However, compared to other stations across the country, charging at this facility is costly as all transactions use pre-loaded credit (RM1 = 1 Credit).
Users are charged 1.30 credits for each kWh of power used plus an 8 credit confirmation fee in order to start the 22 kW AC charging session. Users also get 15-minute grace period to remove their vehicles at the end of the charger before an idle fee of two credits is applied every 30 minutes.

As for the 360 kW DC Charger, users are charged a 10 credit confirmation fee followed by 2.80 credit for every kWh consumed. They are still entitled to a 15-minutes grace period post-charging to relocate their vehicles, the idle fee levied here costs a higher 10 credits for every 15-minute block.

It's also important to remember that EV users who want to use the Shell Recharge service must first reload their ParkEasy App wallet with a minimum of 200 credits (RM200). Through the app, users can also schedule charging sessions, which must be used within ten minutes of the reservation.
