Geely Galaxy E8 Unveiled – A Posh And Sleek EV Saloon With Up To 665 KM Range

Geely's EV portfolio has grown further with the latest introduction of the Galaxy E8 saloon.
China’s largest private automaking firm Geely sees its portfolio of electric vehicles (EVs) grow further this week as it unveils the sleek new Galaxy E8. This posh and sleek saloon was unveiled online ahead of its planned public showing at the upcoming Guangzhou Auto Show 2023.
Underneath, the Galaxy E8 underpins Geely’s renowned Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) EV platform. In other words, the Galaxy E8 is indeed closely related to the recently revealed Lotus Emeya, as well as the Polestar 4.

Constructed upon Geely's renwoned SEA EV platform, the Galaxy E8 also sports a very aerodynamic design boasting a low-drag Cd of just 0.199.
As for size, the Galaxy E8 sits 5,010 MM long with a 2,925 MM wheelbase, 1,920 MM wide, and 1,465 MM tall. Merging form and function, the Galaxy E8’s sleek design and appearance also boasts a low drag coefficient rate (Cd) of just 0.199. In contrast, that’s slipperier than that the 0.202 figure touted by the Mercedes-Benz EQS.
Typical of most modern EVs, the Galaxy E8 sees no front grille for its striking LED headlights and DRLs to flank up front. Aerodynamic efficiency is maintained thanks to a rather clean side profile plus stow-away door handles. Notably, this high levels of aero efficiency was also achieved by Geely without needing to fit door-mounted side-view cameras either.

The Galaxy E8 also boasts a very clean side profile. Notably, Geely was able to attain the low-drag rating without needing to replace traditional side-view mirrors with slimmer cameras too.

Striking forward and rear lighting features all-LED illumination. Adding further to overall drag-reduction are stow-away door handles.
Like the front end, the Galaxy E8 sports a rather pretty derriere that’s both sleek and minimalist. The only striking touch here is LED taillight lightbar spanning across the entire width of the car and lit up by hundreds of individual LEDs. A faux diffuser element in the bumper lower half finished in black adds some much needed contrast here too.
On board, Geely opted to lace the Galaxy E8’s cabin with a bevy of tech led by a massive 8K resolution 45-inch display that spans the entire width of the dash. Other notable touches here include a sporty flat-bottomed steering wheel, a clean and minimalist centre stack featuring just six buttons, round dial, wireless charging pad, and split storage bin, as well as both cabin abient lighting and a panoramic sunroof.

Dominating the cabin is an ultra-wide 8K resolution display measuring 45 inches that's housed in the dash.

Present on board too are frameless windows, a clean and minimalist centre stack housing primed with a wireless charging pad, cabin ambient lighting, as well as a panoramic sunroof.
Moving into the drivetrain, Geely will offer the Galaxy E8 with two lithium-ion phosphate (LFP) battery capacity choices – 62 kWh and 76 kWh. A base-spec variant pairs the smaller battery with a single rear electric motor rated at 272 HP, promising a max range of 550 KM. The same motor setup with the larger battery pairing, on the other hand, raises range up to 665 KM instead.
At the very top of the range is a variant primed with a higher-end 800-volt architecture, allowing the 76 kWh battery to juice a dual-motor setup – one over each axle – each outputting 224 HP (front) and 421 HP (rear). Crucially, despite this setup’s higher outputs and higher power consumption rate, Geely says it will still be able to cover up to 665 KM in range too.

Depending on battery size and powertrain setup choice, the Galaxy E8 boasts up to 665 KM of maximum range, though it remains unclear if this is based on WLTP or CLTC standards.
Apart from these details, as well as the images sprawled here, little else was detailed, but the Galaxy E8 is set to see Geely take the fight up against rivals BYD and its equivalent Han saloon.
