Most Recent Apple Update Prevents iPhone Glitching Caused By BMW Chargers

Several weeks ago, some BMW owners who had just unboxed their brand-new iPhone 15s noticed an odd occurrence. Although the phones support wireless charging, using the pad inside their vehicles disabled the devices' NFC chips, resulting in Apple Pay contactless transactions and digital car key functionality failing.

BMW’s UK account on X (formerly Twitter) confirmed in October that the issues were “being investigated together with Apple.” An Apple service memo reported on by MacRumors said the issue happened when charging an iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, or iPhone 15 Pro Max in some BMW and Toyota Supra cars.
But fear not—Apple just released iOS 17.1.1, which includes fixes for a few significant bugs that have appeared lately.

According to the update notes that are accessible to all iOS users, Apple claims to have fixed the following bugs:
"In rare circumstances, Apple Pay and other NFC features may become unavailable on iPhone 15 models after wireless charging in certain cars and Weather Lock Screen widget may not correctly display snow".
With the release of iOS 17, Apple disclosed additional CarPlay features earlier this year.
Users running iOS 17 can take advantage of new wallpaper designs, a new iMessage user interface, SharePlay Apple Music sessions, and real-time EV charging station information via Apple Maps.
Users will be able to customise the radio, climate controls, and native user interface (UI) for the digital instrument cluster, which includes speed and rev gauges, with the next-generation setup.
Apple is also going to provide views that show the entire map. With these themes, the driver can choose to see a full 3D map display or have the map focus between two circular dials.
There are miniature 'views' of an app that can be placed on a specific infotainment display, much like iPhone widgets.

Apple revealed that a number of vehicle models, including those from Jaguar Land Rover, Mercedes, Porsche, Ford, Renault, Volvo, Honda, and Nissan, will support the upcoming CarPlay generation.
