Yinson's MarinEV Prototype Hydroglyder Launched, Features 800-Volt Architecture

Yinson GreenTech, a well-known local player in the Malaysian EV and charging infrastructure industry via its subsidiaries chargEV, drivEV and rydeEV, has introduced the Hydroglyder into the maritime transportation space.

The all-electric crew transfer prototype vessel was constructed by this endeavour, which will operate under the marinEV brand. Completely built and integrated in Malaysia, this cutting-edge vessel is intended to provide crew transfer services for Singapore's harbour craft market.

The Hydroglyder prototype's launch at the Ctruk Boats shipyard, Melaka was witnessed by the Minister of Transport YB Anthony Loke Siew Fook, Yinson Group CEO Mr Lim Chern Yuan, and YGT CEO Mr Eirik Barclay. Present too were representatives from the Malacca state government and strategic partners like OCBC Malaysia.

Equipped with an advanced hydrofoil system for enhanced energy efficiency compared to traditional vessels, the Hydroglyder features on-board batteries for propulsion and a flight control system for stability during foiling. This technology is expected to reduce operational costs by up to 90%.

The Hydroglyder underpins an 800-volt architecture with a cruising speed of between 20 to 25 knots (37 KM/H to 46 KM/H) with DC charging capability. It also features swappable battery tech on top of DC charging capability mentioned.

YB Loke Siew Fook expressed pride in Malaysia being chosen for the Hydroglyder's assembly, highlighting the country's capability in delivering world-class, technologically advanced engineering projects.

He also noted the effort's alignment with the National Transport Policy's goals to enhance economic competitiveness through skilled workforce development and a favourable business environment.

Mr Lim Chern Yuan of Yinson further added that the prototype Hydroglyder's transformative impact on the maritime industry, thanking the Malaysian government for fostering an environment conducive to innovation prototype green technologies.

The Hydroglyder, set to debut in Singapore for sea trials, aims to support the country's decarbonization goals and provide a more efficient and environmentally friendly alternative in the harbour craft market. Notably, the vessel recently received the 'Most Promising Maritime Technology Award' at the Singapore Norway Innovation Conference.
