Four Chinese EV Makers Ready To Begin Production In Indonesia

According to a statement released on Thursday by a representative of the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment, four Chinese EV makers have indicated that they are prepared to begin production in Indonesia.
Rachmat Kaimuddin, the ministry's deputy for coordination of infrastructure and transportation, reported that he had meetings with the four Chinese manufacturers. "In principle, they appreciated our policy on EVs," he stated.

He only revealed the name of one manufacturer, though, and gave no other information about the other three.
"Of the four manufacturers, one has started the project, namely Wuling. They have just launched a new product. While the other three, I am not in a position to talk about," Kaimuddin said.
He claims that the four EV manufacturers have also stated that they are willing to abide by Indonesian laws, particularly the rule regarding the 40% domestic component level.
Kaimuddin also stated that the four EV manufacturers will help Indonesia in meeting President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi's) target of producing 600,000 electric vehicles by 2030.
