Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Celebrates Christmas with Rumah Hope Children

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia celebrates the holiday season with “Christmas in a Shoebox” social initiative at Rumah Hope.
Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) is ending the year on a positive note as the automaker celebrates the holiday season with its annual “Christmas in a Shoebox” social initiative at Rumah Hope.

For the thirteenth instalment of its holiday season social initiative, MBM has spread the Christmas joy with 47 children from the Rumah Hope child sanctuary. The event was filled with fun activities and games for the children to participate in, including make-a-wish on the Christmas tree, sharing meals together, as well as a surprise appearance from Santa, who handed out personally-curated gifts for all 47 of them with the help of fellow MBM employees, which were referred to as the “Elf Squad”.

Mercedes-Benz Cars Malaysia CEO & President Amanda Zhang
“As we wrap up a meaningful and impactful year, our annual “Christmas in a Shoebox” stands as a strong testament to our commitment to community engagement. It is a joy to see the children at Rumah Hope happy. Our employees also had fun participating in this festive CSR initiative event – doing their bit to create a better and more sustainable future for the next generation,” said MBM CEO and president Amanda Zhang.
This annual “Christmas in a Shoebox'' event was part of MBM’s 2023 Corporate Citizenship strategy, which includes several other CSR initiatives taken by the firm this year. Past initiatives include the ‘Grants for Good’ campaign as well as its renewed partnership with the Nicol David Organisation’s (NDO) ‘Little Legends’ initiative – all reflecting MBM’s commitment to creating a better future within the surrounding communities.

For the ‘Grants for Good’ campaign, MBM has donated a sum of RM100,000 to seven non-profit organisations, including the Food Aid Foundation, Zoo Negara Malaysia, Kiwanis Down Syndrome Foundation, Hospis Malaysia, and more. As for its involvement with NDO, MBM recently renewed the partnership with NDO’s ‘Little Legends’ programme, where a sum of RM100,000 was donated to the initiative. Aside from donations, several MBM employees also took part in the Little Legend programme, where they helped to educate the next generation on the importance of leading a sustainable lifestyle.
