New GWM TANK 700 Hi4-T Limited-Run Special Thinks It’s A Tuned G-Class

Just 70 units of the GWM TANK 700 Hi4-T special edition pictured will be made.
Pictured here is the latest limited-run special from the TANK sub-brand owned by Chinese automaking giant, Great Wall Motor (GWM). Called the GWM TANK 700 Hi4-T, just 70 units of this special will be built, each costing RMB700,000 (approx. RM459,632) in its home market of China.

Unlike the regular TANK 700 model this special underpins, it boasts quite the striking styling and stance thanks to its unique aerokit and wheels combination.
On the surface, we’re certain said Chinese marque had taken loads of inspiration from a certain European aftermarket tuning brand – specifically its creations based on the G-Class like this and this. This is pretty evident not just in the hybrid super-SUV’s squared stance, but through the striking aerokit it comes dressed in.
Said aerokit sees a unique bumper with revised air intakes and a front splitter, a new hood with a large vent, two LED light bars on the roof housed within a pronounced cowling, squared off and very wide wheel arches, as well as a large rear spoiler assembly matched with an equally pronounced rear diffuser.
Capping things off are this special’s rolling stock, which sees a set of unique 22-inch wheels available with silver, black, and gold finishes. These, by the way, are wrapped in 275/50-profile Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres promising added grip and straight-line performance both during acceleration and braking.

A quick comparison between this special by GWM and examples of Mansory-tuned G-Class builds. See any resemblances?
Truth be told, it we wouldn’t blame anyone who passes this off at first glance as yet another aftermarket tuner’s special build. But the fact that it isn’t, and it goes on sale looking this wild, says a lot about this GWM-owned sub-brand which, as you may know, might enter the local Malaysian market space soon.
Apart from the wild aesthetics, this special remains mechanically similar to the regular TANK 700 model it underpins. That means no changes to its 3.0-litre V6 plus hybrid electric motor plus compact ternary-type battery powertrain setup, altogether delivering a total output of 517 HP.

Revealed recently, the TANK 700 features a hybrid powertrain that outputs 517 HP.
As noted, the TANK sub-brand could soon find its way into the local market under GWM Malaysia, though no timeline for its introduction were hinted just yet. Once it does though, reckon things like this TANK 700 special – or the regular version – will garner any local fans?
