Peugeot 3008 & 5008 Gain New Mild Hybrid Powertrains

In keeping with Peugeot's electrification strategy, hybrid versions of the Peugeot 3008 and Peugeot 5008 crossovers have made their way into the French automaker's model line-up.
The main highlight of these duo is, of course, its adoption of a 48-volt mild hybrid (MHEV) powertrain which works with a 1.2-litre 3-cyl turbo. Altogether, the package serves up a total power output of 134 HP and 230 NM.

Aaso highlighted is the six-speed electrified dual-clutch (DCT) gearbox that houses its hybrid electric motor, inverter, and ECU. Meanwhile, the e-motor is good for an extra juice of 28 HP (21 kW) and 55 NM with both models running on electric power when torque requirements are minimal.
According to the WLTP cycle, this mild-hybrid powertrain reduces fuel consumption by 1 litre per 100 km on average while CO2 emissions are down by 20 g/km on average including based on what Peugeot asserted, could reduce 15% fuel consumption.

In terms of safety, both are most likely outfitted with an AVAS (Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System), which emits a sound outside at speeds of up to 30 KM/H to warn pedestrians and cyclists that the vehicle is approaching.
This newly introduced powertrain shall replace the previous PureTech 130 EAT8 and hopefully soon be available in other Peugeot models such as the 208, 2008, 308, 308 SW, and 408.
Last but not least, both the new Peugeot 3008 and 5008 MHEVs are set to be manufactured in Sochaux and start selling in European markets in the second quarter of 2023.
