Retro-Inspired Suzuki Jimny Heritage Special Edition Debuts in Australia
The Suzuki Jimny is one of the most beloved nameplates amongst car enthusiasts. In spite of its petite package, the Jimny is a very capable off-roader that often punches way above its weight and price point.
In commemoration of the nameplate’s storied run, folks at Suzuki Australia have introduced the special edition Jimny Heritage for the Down Under market. Notably, this Heritage special edition is not the same as the ‘Heritage Style’ trim options offered by Suzuki Japan for their domestic market Jimnys.
Based on the two-door version of the current-gen Jimny, the Heritage special edition sports a retro-inspired look, thanks to the colourful decal stripes that run across the car. Aside from that, the mudflaps are also painted in red that really pop against the dark-hued underbody claddings and the 15-inch alloy wheels the Jimny Heritage rides on.
Said decals however does not interfere with the car’s whole body paint, as Suzuki offers up to four hue options for customers to choose from, namely the Black Pearl, Jungle Green, White, and Medium Grey.
In terms of performance specs, the Jimny Heritage shares most of its underbone with the Aussie-spec GLX variant, which harnesses a 1.5-litre 4-cyl nat-asp mill under its hood, capable of delivering up to 101 HP and 130 NM. Said power is then transferred to all four wheels (AWD) via a 5-speed manual transmission.
The GLX underpinning also grants the Jimny Heritage a slew of modern amenities, including the LED headlights, front fog lights, as well as a full swing of advanced driver’s assistance system (ADAS) that comes with features like Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) and more.
The modern amenities list continues inside the Jimny Heritage’s cabin, as it boasts a seven-inch infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto mobile connectivity supported. Leather steering wheel also comes as standard, along with a satellite navigation system and climate control – two features that will surely help you venture your Jimnys into the wild with no worries.
The 2023 Suzuki Jimny Heritage special edition is only available in 300 units, with each one of them priced at AU$33,490 (RM) before tax and insurance.
The current fourth-gen Jimny originally made its global debut back in 2018, coming in the standard two-door coupe body style. Since then, Suzuki has launched a more practical five-door version of the Jimny, while an EV version is currently under development and is set to debut in European markets soon.
