The second-gen Hyundai Kona Electric gets a sportier N Line variant in Europe

Hyundai has expanded its sporty-looking N Line vehicle lineup today, as the Korean automaker revealed the new Kona Electric N Line model. Based on the latest, second-gen EV crossover model, the Kona Electric N Line boasts several cosmetic upgrades that make it a snazzier ride compared to its bare-boned twins.

Not to be confused with the full-blown, ICE-powered Kona N, the Kona Electric gets a sportier and more aggressive N Line body kit, new 19-inch alloy wheels, plus several two-tone black roof colourway options to go along with its gloss black side mirror caps. Besides that, the Kona Electric N Line still retains the quirky yet unique front face featuring a full-width LED bar at the front, as well as its sporty SUV crossover body style with sharp lines and rounded edges.

The N Line treatment continues as we get inside the Kona Electric N Line. This souped-up EV SUV now comes standard with a dedicated N Line steering wheel, metal foot pedals, sporty seats with red stitching and accents, as well as a black-hued headliner. The rest of its standard equipment, like the dual-screen setup at the front, remains the same as the other standard Kona Electric models.

Opting for the snazzier Kona Electric N Line S will grant you several extra cabin items, including ventilated front seats, a Bose premium sound system, dual-zone climate control, and many more.

Unfortunately, the Kona Electric N Line boasts no performance upgrade over the standard models

To many enthusiasts’ frustration, the Kona Electric N Line boasts no performance upgrade whatsoever over its standard twin. The 'souped-up' EV SUV still gets the same single, front-mounted (FWD) electric motor setup rated at 215 HP (160 kW), granting it a century sprint finish in 7.8 seconds. Battery-wise, the Kona Electric N Line is juiced by a 65-kWh battery pack, allowing you to drive up to 490 KM on a single charge.

The new Hyundai Kona Electric N Line is now available for purchase in selected European markets, where this stylish EV SUV is tagged at £40,395 (RM242,535) for the standard N Line, while the up-specced N Line S model is priced higher at £43,095 (RM258,746).

For our Malaysian market, the second-gen Kona Electric has yet to make its official landfall here, with the previous-gen model still going on sale as of writing. Should Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) decide to launch this second-gen model in our market, perhaps this stylish N Line model would make a very nice addition to the marque’s current EV lineup.
