Tron Bradbury Energy Plans To Establish Regional EV Hub In Malaysia

Tron Bradbury Energy (TBE) (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd plans to establish a regional electric vehicle (EV) hub in Malaysia Vision Valley (MVV). This move aims to expand their operations from EV assembly to full-scale manufacturing, distribution, and a cutting-edge battery research and development (R&D) facility.
The initiative was formalized by a memorandum of understanding signed by TBE and Bradbury Asset Management (Hong Kong) Ltd. The hub's development is set to begin in the second quarter of this year, with an estimated annual revenue of more than RM2 billion.
The announcement came during the opening of TBE's first EV assembly plant, which is located in the Port Klang Free Zone. This facility is poised to produce commercial EVs and energy storage systems.
Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz, Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry during the inauguration emphasised Malaysia's rapid growth in the EV market. The data show a 200% increase in battery electric vehicle (BEV) sales year on year.

By 2030, the Malaysian government wants 20% of the total industry volume (TIV) to be made up of electric vehicles. In the years that follow, the goals are even higher, with a 50% projection by 2040 and an 80% target by 2050.
With 4% of the country's yearly GDP coming from the automotive sector, Malaysia's economy depends heavily on it. The industry's significance is further reinforced by the 200% year-over-year increase in BEV sales, which is indicative of the surge in EV demand.
With 15,000 registered identities, the Electric Motorcycle Use Promotion Scheme (MARiiCas) highlights the increasing interest and investment in the Malaysian electric vehicle market.
