Chinese marque Great Wall Motor (GWM) is finally back with a new sedan model, set to be launched under a new sub-brand codenamed ‘ZX’. Ahead of the brand’s launch later this year, GWM has given us a teaser image of an upcoming luxury sedan model, poised to be the first model to be launched under the new marque.
As reported by Chinese news outlet Autohome, this new luxury sedan is set to go against the likes of Hongqi, Bentley, and Rolls-Royce, with the car reportedly measuring 5.5 metres long. Referring to the first render image of this new sedan model, the car looks pretty identical to both the Hongqi H9 and the Rolls-Royce Spectre EV.
Upon further inspection, you’ll notice that the car does not come with any conventional door handles, suggesting that they might be flushed like most modern EVs nowadays. Elsewhere, this rendered model also appears to sport a digital camera instead of conventional physical side mirrors, while riding on massive 8-spoke wheels.

Prior to this new sedan model teaser, a patent application by GWM was leaked back in 2021, showcasing a big sedan model with rounded headlights and taillights design. With no exact images to be compared with, we can’t really be sure whether the model in the leaked patent is the same as what’s been teased by the automaker.

Though not specifically mentioned, this new luxury sedan by GWM will feature an NEV powertrain setup, just like its rival the Hongqi H9 MHEV
On the powertrain front, this new sedan model reportedly will feature a new energy vehicle (NEV) powertrain setup, without specifically mentioning its exact flavour. This means that the new GWM sedan could be a series-parallel hybrid (HEV), a plug-in hybrid (PHEV), a full battery EV (BEV), or even a mere 48-volt mild hybrid vehicle (MHEV) just like its upcoming rival, the Hongqi H9.
Regardless of its powertrain flavour, this new luxury sedan model will be launched under GWM’s new sub-brand. Judging by the luxurious nature of the teased sedan model, it is safe to assume that this new brand will be positioned above other GWM current sub-brands, which includes the likes of Haval, Tank, Ora, and many more.
