Maslan further noted that not all existing toll highways are profitable, so careful evaluation is needed before approval.For the record, a feasibility study for LPT3 was first done in 2009, when costs were estimated at RM2.86 billion, but the amount has since increased due to inflation and design changes.

Authorities have busted a syndicate that turned a pig slaughterhouse in Ayer Tawar, Perak, into a secret depot for<a rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.carz.com.my/2025/08/diesel-smuggling-bust-at-bukit-kayu-hitam-nets-rm380k-in-seizures" target="_blank" style=""> hoarding subsidised diesel.</a>

“The syndicate’s modus operandi was to obtain subsidised diesel from petrol stations around the Manjung district“The fuel was then transferred into large tanks stored inside the pig slaughterhouse, which served as a storage facility for personal use and illegal resale without valid permits," he said, as reported by Harian Metro.The two suspects, aged 39 and 49, claimed to be a lorry driver and his assistant but failed to produce any documents authorising them to store the fuel.Authorities seized the diesel, a lorry, six tanks and pumps, all worth about RM42,680.The case is being investigated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961, which carries penalties of up to RM1 million in fines, three years’ jail, or both.“They can be fined up to RM1 million, jailed for up to three years, or both,” Kamalludin said.

The government has decided not to suspend <a rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.carz.com.my/2025/10/klia-aerotrain-breaks-down-again-mot-apad-step-in" target="_blank" style="">the KLIA Aerotrain service</a> for now, despite a string of embarrassing breakdowns since its relaunch in July, says Transport Minister Anthony Loke.
Loke said the ministry, through the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD), has started taking action against <a rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.carz.com.my/2025/10/macc-open-to-probing-klia-aerotrain" target="_blank" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; white-space-collapse: preserve;">Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB)</a> to send a clear message that poor service even from government-linked companies won’t be tolerated.

Meanwhile, transport think tank MY Mobility Vision has called for <a rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.carz.com.my/2025/10/mot-may-take-action-against-mahb-after-latest-klia-aerotrain-glitch" target="_blank" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; white-space-collapse: preserve;">greater transparency and accountability over the Aerotrain project</a>, saying more than 20 incidents in four months suggest problems beyond just technical glitches.“This is now a governance stress test,” said its chief strategy officer, Rahman Hussin, who urged the ministry to disclose key testing data, fault-free trial results, and reliability benchmarks to help the public understand what went wrong.
