Bermaz Auto Alliance officially announced it has ceased all of its operations. The Peugeot brand will now be fully managed by parent company Stellantis via its new Stellantis Malaysia arm.
Bermaz Auto Alliance Sdn Bhd, outgoing Peugeot brand distributors, officially announced that it has ceased operations for the brand effective today – Feb 29. This marks the end of the Bermaz-owned subsidiary’s tenure at running the French silver lion brand in Malaysia.
The statement issued by the firm late this evening was brief, but clearly outlined the end of all its primary distribution, sales, and after-sales efforts for the Peugeot brand. This also marks the end of the firm’s secondary efforts at rendering official after-sales care for Citroën and DS cars too.
Moving forward, Stellantis Malaysia will now render official after-sales service for existing Peugeot owners in Malaysia.
Additionally, the firm notes that the contractual Free Service Maintenance (FSM) program for existing Peugeot customers entitled to which will now be rendered by the newly established Stellantis Malaysia National Sales Company (Stellantis Malaysia).
Earlier today, said local arm of the global automaking giant also announced the creation of a new one-stop call centre for existing Peugeot, Citroën and DS owners in Malaysia. Further enquiries also led us to obtain a list of 15 service centres officially appointed by the firm pictured below:
Bermaz Auto Alliance’s announcement was somewhat expected given the decision by principals Stellantis back in Nov 2023 towards establishing Stellantis Malaysia. For now, existing Peugeot customers and owners are secured during this interim period as the firm continues setting up.
As we’ve noted in our prior report, it remains unclear if a similar after-sales effort will be devised for existing Citroën and DS vehicles that are still in warranty. However, given their low sales volumes, this may not be a huge issue just yet.
Bermaz Auto Alliance's effort at rebooting Peugeot in Malaysia proved to be a moderate success. Four models were launched in said time by the firm - the 2008 (top, left), Landtrek pick-up truck (top, right), and both the 3008 and 5008 duo (bottom).
Despite its short tenure, Bermaz Auto Alliance’s efforts at rebooting Peugeot in Malaysia was both commendable and widely lauded as a moderate success. The firm had launched no less than four models – the 2008, 3008 and 5008 duo, and the Landtrek pick-up truck – in this time too.
