Gentari and Maybank Inks MOU: Selected Branches Will House EV Chargers

Gentari and Maybank recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) indicating their intention to collaborate on advancing green mobility and renewable energy.

Notably, this is Gentari's first partnership with a financial institution, demonstrating a shared commitment with Maybank to promote sustainable solutions in the marketplace.

This collaboration will help Maybank achieve its ambitious sustainability goals, such as becoming carbon neutral by 2030 and eventually reaching a Net Zero Carbon Equivalent position by 2050.

Maybank is kicking off the initiative by installing EV charging points throughout its premises and branches nationwide, leveraging Gentari's established expertise in green mobility and renewable energy. Initially, ten strategic locations were designated for this purpose.

Gentari currently provides EV owners with access to a vast network of over 335 charging points, including more than 100 DC fast chargers for rapid charging.

Furthermore, as a result of this collaboration, Maybank Islamic's InCharge pre-credits will now cover charging sessions at Gentari charging stations, increasing customer access and benefits.

Syed Ahmad Taufik Albar, Group CEO of Maybank Community Financial Services, emphasised the company's commitment to providing comprehensive solutions for green mobility and renewable energy. He also emphasised Maybank's commitment to "Humanising Financial Services," which provides customers with a comprehensive ecosystem of value-based offerings that go beyond traditional banking.

Meanwhile, Shah Yang Razalli, Deputy CEO of Gentari and CEO of Gentari Green Mobility, emphasised the importance of bringing diverse stakeholders together to make clean energy more accessible, sustainable, and affordable. He emphasised how this collaboration aligns both organisations' offerings to promote a sustainable lifestyle.
