MG4 & MG ZS EV Set for Malaysian Debut on March 27

MG Motor Malaysia has confirmed that both the MG4 and ZS EVs are poised to debut later on March 27.
MG Motor Malaysia has taken to social media to announce the official launch date for two of its upcoming EV models, the MG4 and MG ZS. Announced via MG Motor Malaysia’s official Facebook page, both the MG4 and MG ZS are set to be launched later on March 27, with both models arriving directly under its brand principal, SAIC Motor.

Upcoming MG4 EV C-segment hatchback previewed earlier this year.
Order books for both the MG4 and MG ZS have been opened since the special media preview event held last month. Starting with the MG4, this C-segment EV hatchback range starts with the baseline Standard variant, which is powered by a single, rear-mounted (RWD) electric motor setup rated at 170 PS and 250 NM. Juiced by a 51-kWh battery pack, the MG4 Standard boasts a maximum WLTP range of 350 KM.
Moving on to the MG4 Lux variant, this middling EV hatch gets a peppier 203 PS and 250 NM-rated RWD motor setup while being juiced by a larger 64-kWh NMC battery for a longer WLTP range of 435 KM. Meanwhile, the upper-mid MG4 Lux Extended Range model makes do with a much peppier motor setup rated at 245 PS and 350 NM, plus a bigger 77-kWh battery pack for a better WLTP range of 520 KM.

Sitting at the top of the range is the MG4 XPower, which gets a dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) setup rated at 435 PS and 600 NM, enabling a rapid century sprint time of 3.8 seconds. Using the same 614-kWh battery pack as the Lux model, the MG4 XPower gets a discounted WLTP range of 385 KM due to its peppier motor setup.

The upcoming MG ZS EV is set to go against the likes of BYD Atto 3 and Chery Omoda E5.
As for the MG ZS, this EV SUV will arrive in the facelifted version, featuring only one specification for our local market. This B-segment EV SUV is juiced by a 51.1-kWh LFP battery pack that offers a maximum WLTP range of up to 320 KM. Power is provided by a single FWD motor setup rated at 176 PS and 280 NM, propelling the vehicle from nought to 100 KM/H in eight seconds.

While order books for both the MG4 and MG ZS EV have been opened, MG Motor Malaysia has yet to give the exact pricing for both models. Tentatively, the MG4 starts at RM104,000 for the baseline Standard model, while the range-topping MG4 XPower caps the whole range at RM169,000. Meanwhile, the MG ZS EV is tagged with a preliminary price of RM129,000, undercutting key Chinese rivals like the new Chery Omoda E5 (RM146,800) and the BYD Atto 3 Standard Range (RM149,800).
As for the exact prices for both of these new EVs, we’ll have to wait for their official launch to take place later this month, on March 27. For more updates regarding MG Motor Malaysia and other Malaysian automotive news, be sure to stay tuned here at Caricarz.com…
