Nissan, Mitsubishi Partners To Develop Next-Gen Mobility Solutions

phonto-2-620x400.jpeg Mitsubishi Corporation and Nissan Motor have inked a preliminary agreement for the exploration of "new opportunities in next generation mobility and energy services relating to battery electric vehicles (EVs)" in order to "contribute to creating vibrant future communities and solving regional societal issues.

The two companies also decided to deal with issues like the lack of drivers in Japan as a result of the nation's population decline and the challenge this poses for maintaining public transportation services as fewer people use them.

For the record, Nissan and Mitsubishi Motors have been associated since they signed a deal in 2011. Nevertheless, the arrangement ultimately came to be known as the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance. Nissan now collaborates with Mitsubishi Corporation, the former parent company of Mitsubishi Motors. In an effort to enhance public transportation, Nissan is testing new mobility services, such as self-driving cars, in Yokohama's Minato Mirai District and Namie Town in the Fukushima prefecture. The carmaker added that it was working on energy management systems that would combine renewable energy sources with the battery storage and charging/discharging capabilities of electric vehicles.

Mitsubishi has been tackling social and industrial challenges in partnership with local governments and partners. The company has been concentrating on using regional energy resources, achieving carbon neutrality, and addressing local issues to create appealing communities.

For local governments and private businesses, the automaker has been deploying AI-driven on-demand transportation solutions in the mobility space, including in Shiojiri City, Nagano Prefecture. Additionally, they are demonstrating autonomous driving with digital solutions.
