Alfa Romeo Milano Breaks Cover As Marque’s First-Ever EV

The Alfa Romeo Milano breaks cover as Alfa’s first-ever all-electric model.
After more than 100 years of venturing into the automotive industry, renowned Italian marque Alfa Romeo has finally revealed its first-ever all-electric model, dubbed the Alfa Romeo Milano. Arriving in both fully- and partially-electrified forms, the Milano will also serve as Alfa’s new entry-level model, the smallest model in its current model lineup.

The Milano underpins the same CMP2 platform as other Stellantis models like the Peugeot E-2008.
Utilising the same CMP2 platform as other Stellantis models like the Peugeot E-2008 and the Fiat 600, the Milano comes in two all-electric variants (or ‘Ellettrica’) and a sole 48-volt mild hybrid (MHEV) petrol option known as the ‘Ibrida’. Focusing on the two EV models for now, the top-spec Milano Ellettrica Veloce uses a single, front-mounted (FWD) electric motor that delivers up to 237 HP, while the entry-level Ellettrica gets the same FWD motor setup, albeit with a less peppy 156 HP state-of-tune.
Aside from the peppier motor setup, the top-spec Ellettrica Veloce also benefits from an upgraded and stiffer suspension setup, as well as improved steering, beefier brakes, and a mechanical self-locking differential.

Regardless of variants, the Milano EV uses the same 54-kWh battery pack, which grants a decent WLTP range of up to 410 KM on the baseline model. Thanks to its 100 kW DCFC rate, the Milano EV can be charged from 10 to 80% in just 30 minutes.

On the design front, the new Milano features the latest design ethos from Alfa. Although not as striking as its bigger siblings like the Tonale, the Alfa Romeo Milano boasts quite a decent overall design with bold and striking elements.

In spite of its all-electric nature, the Milano still gets Alfa’s iconic ‘Scudetto’ grille design at the front, which is then flanked by a pair of matrix LED headlights with unique DRLs and lighting signatures. Also present at the front is the sporty front bumper, featuring a large lower air intake and an integrated front splitter that is akin to what we saw on many of Alfa’s sporty Quadrifoglio models.

From the side, the Milano features a pretty sporty SUV crossover body style, featuring a pretty muscular stature that is accentuated by its toned-up rear shoulders. Also present here are the hidden rear door handles that give the Milano a sporty three-door body style. Elsewhere, the Milano rides on 18-inch wheels as standard, while the top-spec Elletrica Veloce makes do with larger 20-inch wheels instead.
Measuring 4,170 MM long, 1,780 MM wide, and 1,500 MM tall, the Alfa Romeo Milano still belongs to the European’s sub-compact (B-segment) SUV crossover market space, despite being slightly bigger than its platform twins like the Jeep Avenger and Fiat 600.

On board, the new Milano gets all the latest and greatest tech bits both Alfa Romeo and Stellantis have to offer, with the key highlight being the dual 10.25-inch displays—one for the main infotainment unit and the other for the digital instrument cluster.

Aside from the standard cabin equipment and trim, customers can opt for the sports package, which adds sporty bits like the Sabelt sporty front seats wrapped in Alcantara upholstery instead of the fabric and leather ones present on the standard models.

Could the new Alfa Romeo Milano become the first Alfa model to be launched by Stellantis Malaysia?
Order books for the all-new Alfa Romeo Milano have been opened in selected European markets, including its native Italy. The Milano will be priced from under €30,000 (RM153,238), with leasing options beginning at under €200 (RM1,021) exclusively available in Europe.
Besides the Old Continent, neither Alfa Romeo nor Stellantis have yet to confirm when this entry-level Alfa will make its way to other international markets. With Stellantis now officially setting up shop here in Malaysia, we’d reckon the Milano would make an excellent model for Alfa Romeo to reintroduce itself into our local market.
