Chery Auto Malaysia Recalls 600 Omoda 5 Units
After acknowledging the viral mishap involving an Omoda 5 that experienced a chassis component failure, Chery Auto Malaysia has elected to perform a recall for said model.
As a refresher, the latest viral case mentioned saw an Omoda 5 owner named Stephanie taking to social media last weekend detailing her ordeal. In her viral post, Stephanie also highlighted her vehicle was recovered swiftly by Chery Auto Malaysia's after-sales team, and the automaker promptly followed up with her and even offered a courtesy car.
Following yesterday's statement, Chery Auto Malaysia conducted a thorough investigation with the components supplier. From which, the firm has determined that 600 units of the Omoda 5 could be affected by a similar issue owing to the component supplier's facility upgrade exercise during that time.
As a precautionary measure, Chery Auto Malaysia will contact the owners of the 600 impacted vehicles identified by their Vehicle Identification Numbers (VIN). The firm will arrange for a thorough inspection for these affected owners and correct any technical concerns.
Concurrently, Chery Auto Malaysia highlights that Stephanie’s case is an isolated incident. The firm adds that the matter had been remedied by repairing the rear axle beam and performing rigorous quality control inspections on the vehicle to ensure that the problem is fully resolved.
Chery Auto Malaysia also emphasised that they are committed to providing safe and trustworthy transportation solutions. To demonstrate their commitment for this, Chery Auto Malaysia will launch a dedicated website for all Omoda 5 customers to confirm that their vehicles are not affected by this recall exercise.
Customers with more questions can contact the Chery Malaysia Customer Careline at +603-2771 7070.
