Honda Launches PAW-S, A Revolutionary Dog-First Car Technology
Honda recently unveiled the Pet Activated Wireless System (PAW-S), a cutting-edge car boot system designed with pet owners in mind and specifically for dogs. With its innovative design, this system promises to transform the way pets and cars interact, protecting and comforting them while they travel.
Beginning on April 1, 2024, all new Honda e:Ny1 electric SUVs will come equipped with PAW-S technology as standard equipment. Furthermore, it will be accessible for retrofitting in current models at regional stores across the country.
A specially designed tag activates the PAW-S system, which automatically unlocks the car boot when a dog approaches the vehicle. This feature is intended to keep the dog safe by preventing any unintentional openings while the car is moving.
In order to better understand the needs and preferences of over 300 dogs from 52 breeds, a comprehensive study was conducted before the system was created.
A fully functional satellite navigation system with alerts for neighboring parks and woodland areas, a contact list for dog friends, sophisticated climate control, interactive wildlife video footage, and a walkie-talkie feature for communication with the driver are just a few of PAW-S's notable features.
Another is a nose-activated infotainment system. The goal of these features is to improve the enjoyment of travel for both owners and their pets.
Additional features of the PAW-S equipped cars include recessed spill-proof bowl holders, a Honda-branded collar, ISOFIX points for attaching dog harnesses, and inserts to keep the boot functional.
Extras that can be added to meet the specific needs of different breeds are available as optional extras for added convenience. These include a removable 'accident' corner, an inbuilt toy with multiple options, an automatic unfolding staircase for smaller dogs, and a paw-activated treat dispenser.
