Kia Plans to Launch 15 New EVs by 2027 & 6 New Hybrids by 2024

Kia’s latest electrification plan sees the marque aiming to launch 15 new EVs by 2027 and 6 new hybrids by 2024.
Korean automaker Kia is ramping up its electrification adoption plan by presenting a new plan during its 2024 Investor Day event. As part of its vision to become a global powerhouse in premium EV automaking, Kia is planning to launch at least 15 new EVs by 2027.

Both the Kia EV3 (left) and EV4 (right) concepts will be mass-produced as Kia's latest EV offerings.
This ambitious expansion plan will see Kia expand its current electric crossover SUV lineup, which is currently dominated by E-GMP-based models like the Kia EV6, EV9, and EV5. Joining this trio is the upcoming EV3, which is slated to launch later in the summer this year, as well as the EV4 and EV2. On top of these passenger EVs, Kia is also planning to introduce an array of commercial EVs based on the PV electric concept shown at CES earlier this year.

Following the footsteps of its Hyundai-badged cousin, the EV6 is also due for a mid-life update this year.
Aside from new models, Kia is also planning to grant a mid-life cycle to its ageing EV products, notably the EV6. Set to debut by the end of this year, the facelifted EV6 will follow in the footsteps of its Hyundai-badged cousin, the Ioniq 5, who recently got the much-needed facelift earlier this year.

Both the EV5 (left) and EV9 (right) will be offered with a high-performance GT variant in the future.
Some good news for performance enthusiasts, Kia is also poised to further expand its high-performance GT variants to other existing and upcoming models. Currently available for the EV6, this top-spec variant will make its way to both the EV9 and EV5 in January 2025, where both EVs will feature a peppier electric motor setup that allows for a sub-4-second century sprint time.

Ultimately, all these new and upcoming models will help to propel the Korean marque’s goal of selling 1.6 million EVs annually by 2030. This projection will also see 38% of Kia’s global sales made exclusively of EV models, a significant jump from the current 10%. The European market is expected to boost Kia’s EV sales performance, with the automaker targeting 80% of its sales in the Old Continent coming from EVs.

At the same time, Kia is also not neglecting its hybrid models, with the automaker set to expand its partially-electrified lineup from six models in 2024 to nine models in 2028. Ultimately, this plan will see almost all of Kia’s current ICE models offered with a hybrid option, and that includes both the upcoming Kia K8 and Sportage facelifts, which are poised to debut later this year.
Through this extensive hybridification plan, Kia projects an increase in its hybrid vehicle sales volume from 14% of its global sales to 20% from 2024 onwards, totaling up to 886,000 units.
