Launched: Ford Ranger StormTrak – Just 200 Units, From RM181,888

SDAC Ford officially launched the new Ford Ranger StormTrak earlier today, and just 200 units are up for grabs.
As predicted, Malaysian Ford vehicle distributors Sime Darby Auto Connexion (SDAC) were set to launch a new variant of its popular and best-selling Ford Ranger pick-up truck. Earlier today, the firm revealed to local press said new offering, which is called the Ford Ranger StormTrak.
As noted previously, the StormTrak is a limited-run special that’s open for purchase exclusively online via SDAC Ford’s online shopping portal. Form this morning’s debut, SDAC Ford has also confirmed that just 200 units of the StormTrak will be available for Malaysian buyers.

Each StormTrak unit is tagged at RM181,888 in Pen. Malaysia, and at RM188,288 in both Sabah and Sarawak.
As for price, each Ford Ranger StormTrak unit commands RM181,888 in Peninsular Malaysia, and RM188,288 each in both Sabah and Sarawak. The StormTrak also comes in three exclusive paintjob options – Artic White, Meteor Grey, and Absolute Black.
So what do you get in the StormTrak besides bragging rights as a limited-run release? Plenty, and with good reason too as this variant is positioned as bridge between the Wildtrak and Platinum variants of the Ranger, hence why it sports plenty of bits from each.

The StormTrak is easily distinguised by its three exclusive paintjobs, 20-inch Asphalt Black matte wheels with Race Red inserts, StormTrak-specific grille and bumper, and StormTrak badges plus flatbad decals.
Unique to the StormTrak though are 20-inch wheels finished in Asphalt Black matte paint with striking Race Red inserts, StormTrak-specific grille, bumper emblems, and decal graphics donned on the sides of the flatbed.
On board, the StomTrak also gains a unique interior featuring Race Red contrast and pipe stitching motif, along with StormTrak badges donned on the seat backs. Otherwise, little else has changed here from the Wildtrak, which isn’t bad news altogether.

On board, the StormTrak rocks a black cabin motif offset by StormTrak-specific badges and contrast Race Red pipe-stitching. All else remains identical as the Ranger Wildtrak here.
Also exclusive to the StormTrak is a first-in-segment Auxiliary Lamps and Zone Lighting sets, the former used to illuminate dark off-road trails whilst the latter brightens the vehicle’s surroundings. Present here too are a set of cargo lights for added convenience when loading and unloading.
Another key addition is the innovative Flexible Rack System with Swing-In-Place Rood Rails. If these look familiar, they’re borrowed straight from the Ranger Platinum variant. They offer convenient one-handed operation, and the ability to hold up to 80 KG (dynamic) and 250 KG (static) loads.

Other Key additions include a Flexible Rack System with Swing-In-Place roof racks, both lifted from the Ranger Platinum. Present too are Auxiliary Lamps and Zone Lighting plus cargo lights set.
Under the hood, the Ranger StormTrak shares the same 2.0-litre bi-turbo diesel 4-cyl and 10-speed automatic e-Shifter box powertrain package as the Ranger Platinum. As a refresher, said mill outputs 210 PS and 500 NM, and it gets paired with a full-blown 4x4 driveline primed with a rear diff-lock.
Lastly, the Ranger StormTrak is also laced with additional advanced driver assistance features, namely Auto Brake Hold and Active Park Assist 2.0 – features usually reserved for the Ranger Raptor and Everest Titanium models.

Under the hood, the StormTrak harnesses the familiar 2.0-litre Bi-Turbo diesel 4-cyl mill as found in most Ranger variants, offering up 210 PS and 500 NM outputs.
As mentioned, bookings and purchases of the new Ford Ranger StormTrak can only be done exclusively online via SDAC Ford’s online shopping platform. Additionally, each purchase of the StormTrak also comes with an exclusive windbreaker jacket to match.
By the way, the new Ford Ranger StormTrak also comes with SDAC Ford’s usual 5-year or 160,000 KM warranty coverage, which can be extended by two years or 40,000 KM via the optional Extended Warranty Plan available.

The Ford Ranger StormTrak is being showcased at SDAC's latest roadshow that starts today and runs until June 2 at New Wing, 1Utama Shopping Centre, PJ.
Keen prospects can also view the new Ford Ranger StormTrak in the flesh this week as it will be showcased in SDAC Ford’s latest roadshow event that’s taking place at New Wing, 1Utama Shopping Centre, PJ. Said roadshow starts today and runs until June 2.
So, what do you folks reckon then? Are you digging the StormTrak twist to the Ranger? As usual, share your take on things in the comments section below, as well as our social media pages…
