PDRM Bags RM1.3 Million in Summons Fees from Minggu Perpaduan Roadshow

The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has collected a sum of RM1.318 million in summons fees from the four-day Sambutan Minggu Perpaduan 2024 roadshow happening last week at the Angsana Johor Bahru Mall, Johor.

As announced via the Ministry of Home Affairs' (KDN) official Facebook page, the RM1,318,240 collected over the four-day roadshow was split over to RM194,750 from the first day (May 23), RM227,690 from the second day (May 24), RM449,590 from the third day (May 25), and RM446,210 from the fourth day (May 26).

This rather impressive fee collection showed that the 50% summons discount programme was well received, as PDRM’s participation in roadshows like these also allows members of the public to pay off and check on their outstanding summonses, not to mention allowing the force to do their summons fee collection more efficiently.

The home ministry has thanked the PDRM for their willingness to participate in this roadshow and come out with this initiative, as well as the members of the public for paying off their outstanding summonses.

As per any government roadshows and public events of late, it seems that both KDN and PDRM will keep continuing with their new ‘trend’ of offering discounts on summonses, which actually contradicts the new ‘no discount’ policy enforced by the Ministry of Transport (MoT) upon the Road Transport Department (JPJ).

Unlike the PDRM, which falls under the KDN’s jurisdiction, Transport Minister YB Anthony Loke insisted on this ‘no-discount’ policy for the JPJ, as fines for the summonses are meant to educate the public, while citing that any forms of summons discounts would be unfair to those who pay earlier at full rates.
